Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Any good sites? Or maybe project books/ideas?

We're getting ready to start K in the fall, and I want to start now working on cutting & pasting as DD is behind a bit in fine motor skills.

Anything works, as long as I can either print it from my computer or copy something I have on hand - I'm just trying to figure out what to do for projects, etc. Anything involving the saints, etc would be very good - DD is enthralled with nuns and the saints.

We got some Kumon books at Barnes and Nobles that are great for our little ones.

Project ideas for cutting and pasting?! What a fantastic idea!

My poor little ladies, our cutting and pasting time is when I put a piece of pretty pink paper in front of them, with some scraps of colored paper on the side, then a glue stick, and some pretty pink scissors. And then say "be careful".

Maybe I should step it up a notch.

Chris, we do that a lot too- "here's some paper strips- chop those up and glue it on to make a collage"

We use a few Kumon books too for cutting and pasting. I've also just printed out images of things they like (animals or book covers, etc.) and had them cut those out, and they also like to have a picture to glue on sometimes when they make cards for grandparents.

I give my 4 year old the coupons from the newspaper that I won't use and he cuts those out on the lines.

I also have a few printable books by Marilynn G. Barr that are cut and paste, alphabet, numbers, etc. and I copy pages from those books frequently. Books by Jean Warren or Mailbox Publishing have cutting work you can copy.

Jean Warren's site preschoolexpress.com has a ton of ideas and I've adapted some of the printables to be used for cutting.

There are some really neat handwork ideas at Montessori World with a neat section on paper cutting. Some of the projects are lots of fun!

Enchanted Learning has some great cutting/tracing templates.

Looks like there's lots of ideas here.. so I thought I'd mention one that is totally the opposite. After several things including hair being cut that were NOT supposed to be cut.. I'm really not terribly inclined to hurry with teaching scissor skills There's lots of ways to develop fine motor skills without scissors.. so it is ok if using scissors comes later.

Yep. My scissors come out at supervised times and are kept up high...for exactly this reason!

The scissors are literally under lock and key at our house and only used with me right there at all times. DS2 already made mulch of one of my pillows . . . :D

I let DD have scissors with some supervision - I found these really neat ones at my grocery that ONLY cut paper. I tried them with hair, plastic, etc and they really do only cut paper! Plastic blades too with rounded ends.

I think the brand name is security - I'll check next time I go.
