Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I can't remember if there was a thread about something similiar before?

Anyways, my almost 4 yr old is giving up naps.   Being 36 wks pregnant I still need her to have some quiet time for my sanity and exhaustion's sake. (I'd like an hour . . .?)
So, what sort of fun/entertaining/quiet stuff could I put into a bag for her to be brought out only at "quiet time" that she could have something to do for a while.
I've done stuffed animals, books, and coloring so far. All of these have gotten boring for her.
Any other ideas?
Thank you!

Stickers and paper
Lacing cards
Felt board and shapes/scenes
Holy cards on a ring
Small cars

You could also put on a CD of stories or an audio book for her.

You might also look at some of the Montessori threads--many of those ideas can easily be translated into quiet time activities.

An educational computer game may keep her busy (and learning) for a while.

puzzles
play dough
legos
K'nex (with activity cards)
pattern blocks (with activity cards)

Make a tent in the livingroom by putting a blanket over 2 chairs. She can play with her dolls inside or look at a book etc..

God bless, Jody

For DS1 we have a short CD that lasts 20 minutes and he has to lay in his bed with a few books to look at until the CD is done. After that he has a few choices- he can turn on an audio book, play with legos or lincoln logs, or draw. He's the kind of kid that treats CDs really well and I can trust him with crayons alone in his room and all that. When his timer goes off he's allowed to come out of his room (usually 45 minutes). Occasionally he falls asleep before the first CD is done, but that's pretty rare.

Marilyn just posted some great ideas in this thread. You could also try searching under "workboxes," which were talked about quite a lot earlier this year and could be adapted for quiet time use.

Can you tell I've had quiet time on the brain lately too? My 3yos have just about given up their nap, so I've been considering my options. (Though they both decided to nap today after taking a couple weeks off--go figure! )

We do this...have since we started homeschooling. We often use cd's...Beethoven's Wig, CatChat...scouting for grab bags at thrift stores will bring fast food kids meal doodads that don't hold much play value in general but might entertain for a few rest times. :) Those magnetic play sets and felt boards are nice too...the ones with scenes that they can lay out.
