Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a sample of pegboard that I got from Lowe's a couple of years ago. It's been sitting around in a box with some other little samples of their panel boards. I think we paid about 20 cents or so for these samples.

Anywho, this morning the idea came to me to get a small sheet of pegboard and have it cut into squares or whatever shapes I'd like. It would be nice to have a geometric shape card on a tray with the pegboard square. The child would then do a lacing activity to match the shape on the card. I realize this won't work with the curved shapes, but I'm thinking it would work pretty well with even the constructive triangle shapes. You could use the cards for the detective adjective game for the constructive triangles, and let the child lace these onto the pegboard.

Think this will work?

I'm going to ask my neighbor to cut some nice shapes for me with the pegboard too. I don't really know the cost of a sheet of pegboard, but if you have a skill saw, I think you could cut plenty of shapes or whatever from just one sheet. I'm guessing roughly $6 - $10 for a sheet?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. You'd have to plan your cuts carefully, esp with triangles, to make sure you don't end up with a hole along an edge of a shape.

I think it could work, Vicki.

Another idea would be to just cut several good size squares of pegboard. If you also had some cork lying around (doesn't everyone?) you could cut the cork to the same size as your square peg boards and carefully glue the two together around the edge. Use golf tees and rubber bands to make your shapes. Offer the set of cards for constructive triangles, a basket of golf tees, a basket of rubber bands and let them go to work.
