Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's been mentioned before but my sons (2,4,6) are loving shucking corn this spring. (And eating it, too!)

I wonder why you don't see this in any typical Montessori albums... maybe the teachers writing them aren't from the midwest!

Great idea! I'll be incorporating that when we get some corn.

Corn has so much potential for so many activities. We're growing some popcorn this year...happy to say the seeds are coming up.

I also keep some ears of Indian corn as a ready-made activity -- tweezers and a container, and ds takes the kernels off. He loves to do it.

My oldest liked to pick corn and shuck it last summer at grandma's house. I can't wait. Yum!

This is definitely fun! I think it's not included in the typical Montessori albums because it's practical life and those are so culturally-based - every culture has their own particular ones - though some are so typical that they are generally included.

I didn't teach preschool in a Montessori classroom, but we did a lot of corn shucking in my classroom - it was always a hit!
