Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Everyone--

I posted this question in Pic. Book Discoveries but thought I should ask here, too. Is that allowed? I'm sorry--I haven't posted much...still learning.

Hello Everyone!

Do any of you have this book: A Little Girl After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George & Judy Luenebrink ? How does it compare to "God's Wisdom for Little Girls", written by the same author.

A Little Girl After God's Own Heart

I am looking for character/virtue development for my 3.5-4 year old, and I wasn't sure which was best.

Any thoughts?

God Bless,
Maggie Pelkey

Hi, Maggie~
We just rec'd A Little Girl After God's Own Heart as a gift a couple weeks ago, and have had God's Wisdom for a couple years. Here is a description of the two sitting in front of me.

God's Wisdom for Little Girls, based off of Proverbs 31.
Gives a 4-line-rhyming poem about "Diligence", then the scripture verse.

There is a 2-page-spread with the following "Proverb Word/Meaning":

Priceless, kind, Eager, Helpful, Cheerful, Busy, Hearty, Diligent, Caring, Prepared, Creative, Prayerful, Artistic, Confident, Gracious, Careful, Thoughtful, God's Child, Cherished,

A Little Girl After God's Own Heart has a 4-page-spread with the following virtues:

Faithfulness, Goodness, Patience, Joy, Peace, Love, Kindness, Gentleness, Self-Control

1 page announcing "Gentleness"
1 page with an illustration and scripture verse
1 page with an 8-line poem
1 page with an illustration for the poem

They are both wonderful! But, I'm thinking that maybe "A Alittle Girl After God's Own Heart" would be better for the younger set, and then move on to the Proverbs 31 (God's Wisdom....) traits, which are maybe harder to understand in that context for the little ones. Although, she does talk about "busy, eager, cheerful, etc".....all things the pre-schoolers get (In "God's Wisdom"). Either way.....they are both wonderful!

...I was reading these to my daughter earlier today...love them !

Just thought I'd bring them up in conversation again since they are in my heart today.

I totally agree with the above mentioned. I think the Little Girl book is better for a "littler" audience. But we love them both.

I read "A Wife After God's Own Heart" in 2007 and loved it. It changed the way I pray through my day and how I view my role as a wife.
