Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm a bit late in starting this thread, but hopefully not too late! What work did your kids enjoy last week?

We're still on break, so I'm not doing anything formally with the kids, but...

Last week my 2 yo twins were all about the sandpaper letters. They also built letters with the HWT wooden letter pieces. I tried to mobilize all the kids to help with some fall cleaning, and that worked in a sort of mediocre fashion. I couldn't get the little ones as interested in washing and wiping as I had hoped.

My 1 yo has been fascinated with putting things together -- duplos and plastic baby food containers (taking the top off and putting it back on.) I also gave him some plastic medicine cups to stack yesterday at his high chair, and he seemed to enjoy that.

The big kids have been helping in the garden -- picking squash and digging potatoes.

My just turned two year old wanted to try the cylinder blocks, so I presented block one. He did great! It was just the right challenge for him to set the cylinders in front of the block, then put them back. He placed some incorrectly and then realized when others wouldn't fit. He repeated it about 3 times. It was one of those Montessori moments, when it works like you read about. I also tried to present a scooping pom pom activity (putting them in an ice cube tray) and he just got silly and started throwing them.

My 18 mo old enjoyed sorting plants and animals. I put 4 fake leaf/flower items and 5 toy animals in a basket and we sorted them. He also liked putting change in a piggy bank, chopping veges, putting blocks in a oatmeal container I made a hole in, and coloring in his high chair.

My almost 4 yr old liked starting addition with beads and counting to 100 with beads. He also sorted twigs by length, polished brass, sorted sandpaper grades, did leaf rubbings and prints with paint. We matched tree bark to their leaf and called them by name and did parts of leaf puzzle. He really liked matching the continent forms to their names using a map and doing a puzzle with the animals of the world. He also enjoyed hanging washcloths on a line and then folding them. I also hung a mirror low right off the kitchen, by our entrance so he can check if his face is clean after he eats, I actually am doing this for the olders too. It is just getting silly how I don't notice until we're in the car that they have spag sauce on their face or whatever. So, I'm trying to make it easier for them to take care of themselves.

This sounds like a lot and there's more that I'm sure I forgot; but, he is just so eager. 4 is so much fun. I just love seeing the wheels spinning.

My 3 oldest do botony on mon, geography on tues, and geometry on thurs. These are all focused around mont. activities. They also haveabout 2 hrs a day of choice time where they can work on mont activities.

Went well for our 2nd week!!!
