Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What is the objective of the snake game? I see that there are several types in Adena's product line but I have not yet found a usage.

The beginning uses for the Snake game are for making tens. You lay out various numbers represented by the colored bead bars and essentially count through your line making tens. Each time you come to ten replace the bars with a golden bar and use the black/white bars as remainders, you then begin counting from the remainder bar until you hit ten again. Proceed this way until all your bars are counted and you have only tens or tens with a certain remaining "snake head".

As your child progresses you can make it more difficult using positive and negative numbers (the gray/light gray & pink/white bars), but the "making tens" concept continues throughout all the variations.

Does that help at all???

Blessings,

Here Holly. I found some demos of the snake games. Little City Kids used to have a video demo, but I can't find it ever since they closed their store. I'm sure somebody else can help you better, but maybe this will work in the meantime!

I had seen these online and I was trying to decide if they would be useful for helping resolve our exchanging isseus that one of children definitely has...

I kind of understand and I am trying to figure out a way of using the cuisenaire rods in this manner...But then I am beginning to suspect that one of my younger kids might actually need the beads to help him reach a point where he can use the cuisenaire rods. I have so much that I am thinking about right now...

My 4yo wanted to do the snake game so badly after seeing the demo on Little City Kids. She loves snakes anyway so this game really intrigued her. I tried to do it with her with the cuisenaire rods and it sort of worked. I don't know that she understood the concept. I think it would work much better with the actual beads. I am actually in the process of ruining my cuisenaire rods by marking them all with lines to make the number more apparent. I don't know if that makes any sense or not...
