Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello,
I know over time quite a few people have mentioned that they are using the "child size masterpieces" series with their children, as an enhancement to their Montessori environment.

I am interested in them, but have a few Q's.

1) Is it necessary (or particularly helpful) to purchase the "how to use" guide? if not, is there any online links for these explanations.

2) I am particularly interested in the Modernist one but it at the end of the series (& I can't afford to buy them all together). My son is 4 1/2 and has a very unique "modernist" style all of his own :) and think he'd really enjoy this one... but I am wondering if I should still start at the beginning with book 1?

I look fwd to your thoughts. cheers!

I love CSM. I have found the folders somewhat difficult to "display" in an attractive sort of way, without diligence on my part to keep rotating and re-presenting them. But I love them, and I think they will serve our children well when they are older, also.

The how-to guide was essential to my understanding. It's not that complicated, I could explain it to you myself if you want. But if you're going to invest in this as an "art program" you might want the manual. I'm glad to have it.

I have the first 5 books. As per Montessori theory, they progress with baby steps... book one is super simple. Book 5 (if I'm remembering correctly) is famous paintings - that's my personal favorite. Even Book 1, though, has some modernist paintings, and later sets are things like "boys" "girls" "dancers" and so on that my children have been interested in.

So, not sure if this answered your question, because I know they are expensive, but I figured it was worth it for me with 4 children who can use it... Is there another family you could share them with? Good luck!
