I don't know why, but one thing that seems to keep my DC and *ME* busy for quite some time is cornstarch and water. We LOVE it! Just thought I'd share that with y'all.

Oh, it is magic! Get a big plastic bin and just start having fun, mix a little water with the cornstarch and go... You can use eye droppers, measuring cups, etc to scoop and pour the water. You can mold the mixture, or add more water and make what we call "glop"- a more liquid version. The last time we made glop the kids played with it for an hour and a half.

All yo do is mix cornstarch with a little water and food coloring in a bowl. Grab a handful and roll it into a ball then watch it melt away. I'm telling you moms, YOU will have fun with this too!

I don't know I missed this in my childhood!! Good thing you told me before my boys got too big! I'll have to go buy some... I usually use flour instead of cornstarch!    But the food coloring I got.

Hi,
We love martian mud here. I don't think you get the same result with flour as you do with cornstarch however.
Many years ago, my kids tried gluing rocks together with it!

Gravy was my first thought, I must admit. Cornstarch is the only thing that *magically* broth into gravy.

I'll have to try this with my littles. They definitely need tactile stimulation!

We used cornstarch just a few days ago...very fun! We made worms - you can paint them after they dry if you want.
mix 2 cups salt with 2/3 cup water in sauce pan. Cook over medium heat for 4 - 5 minutes. Remove from heat. In seperate bowl add 1/2 cup water to 1 cup cornstarch, stir until mixture becomes goopy. Add cornstarch mixture to the slat mixture. Return to low heat and cook until becomes doughy - this didn't happen so well, so I dumped it into a big ziploc and flipped in all over the counter while it was cooling and smashed it together. Once cooled, the kiddos loved it! Supposedly the dough will harden in the sun and not crumble - it was raining the day we were doing this activity
