Please share what you've been doing!
We've had an off week - we took a long weekend traveling and didn't do anything "school" until yesterday, and then I just wanted to get in some reading and math. I AM going to present the first altar work from Moira's 3-6 album today.

I've given my 4 yo a pitcher in the refrigerator so he can pour his own juice, and I showed him how to cut cheese with a crinkle cutter -- so he cut an entire block of cheese for snack the other day. He's so proud of himself.
I presented the pink spelling cards to my 10 and 8 yo who have trouble with spelling (although miraculously it seems to have gotten better over the summer), but they weren't interested.
We're having choice time again in the mornings, and I'm writing down choices on the whiteboard. Today they chose to draw maps of islands they invented... my hopes of introducing our study of geography.
I blogged our first day back, but fortunately life has become a little less frenetic.

Well we're also just catching our breath after being out for a few days of R & R...
Today was VERY casual:
*Seamus cut out and labeled some butterfly stickers from Dover Teacher's online free lessons
I presented parts of a Bird as we just came home to an order from Montessori-n-Such and our Parts of a (Bird)Goldfinch Puzzle. I also whipped out another nifty "Parts of" workmat and Control card similar to the Botany ones Theresa inspired
*Seamus had a grand time working with it all and coloring and labeling his bird
My dd 11 worked through a Saxon 65 lesson with me on Measuring Circles, then she did a grammar/writing lesson and joined her brother (8) in doing Leaf Rubbings! Tons of fun for them both. Oh and he started a Geography page on WA state for his NB. He really likes tracing the puzzle pieces and creating his own information pages, I love this type of independent motivation
This afternoon was spent (besides doing mountains of laundry ) on Oragami folding, we have a great video from the library, hope to blog it soon
Glad to see you here some more Angela!! Thanks for bumping the week Marianne!

Tons of stuff!
Tuesday I presented the command cards for the pink series and LOVES them. She is just beginning to sound out words with much effort so it is a great reward for her hard work to get to "mop" or "Run in the sun."
I had last week presented the large number cards with golden beads and she can now match any quantity up to 9999. Monday I switched it up and laid out beads and she had to pull out the matching cards. She liked that.
Today she used a tool for punching out the outline of Asia. Also a big hit. We also laid out all of the items from our Asia box and played store with some Chinese money, taking turns as the shopkeeper and the customer ("I'd like to buy a picture of the Petronas Towers and a string of pearls, please." "OK, That will be 5 Yuan")
Wednesday I set up a polishing pennies activity with half of a lemon, a bowl of salt and a toothbrush. Oh, joy!Shiny pennies!
Fun week so far!

Thanks guys! I have been following this thread this week and it made me realize I hadn't really done or planned any new presentations- although my kids have been taking things off the shelves that have already been presented. They love the knobless cylinders, pink tower and brown stair, and my 5 year old requested the geometric solids which were packed in the closet. Reading what everyone else is up to really motivated me to do some new presentations. So I re-presented the world map, did the 1st and 2cnd periods (of the 3 period lesson) with my 3 year-old. She loved putting the pieces on the control map. The 5 -year-old is in the 3rd period with the continent names, at least I think so, he kept giving me the wrong name to be silly.
Yesterday I had the idea to go to the zoo and look for animals from each continent to reinforce the continent names- and b/c the weather was so nice! I printed out "animals of the world" books for the kids to draw an animal from each continent on each page. Here is a link to the file which is pretty simple really:

They all had fun looking at the animals and reading the signs to find where they lived.
This afternoon I am planning to start some Botany presentations on leaves, their parts and various shapes from my Montessori R&D manual, we'll see how that goes. Hopefully we can go outside and collect some leaves.
Over the weekend I am hoping to make "parts of" mats for my botany puzzles like Theresa and Meredith, and get ready to present the 2cnd Great Lesson, the Coming of Life. The Clock of the Eras was such a hit with my 8 yr old, I am thinking this will go over well too.

Oh my- you all have been busy... and we have done nothing but unpack boxes and play Yahtzee and read books. Well, so it goes. I'm filing away all your ideas for future use!
