Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I guess it's official. If we weren't doing school at home than ds would be in a Kindergarten class right now. So, today was our first day. We started off with line time, prayer, God's Love Story (CHC), Montessori materials. Had a snack. Did table time with SP letter C, the C flashcard from LSLF (CHC), a C coloring page, and read The Very Hungry Caterpillar (I didn't know how many good C words were in there!) We went to a nature spot but turns out that won't be good for nature study b/c other homeschool kids meet their on Tuesdays and my boys wanted to play with their friends. I kinda knew that would've happened.

Anyway...my 5 yo REALLY got the hang of using a mat (table place mat) and starting and stopping his activities and putting it away. The 3 yo got it pretty, well, too. Our knobbed cylinders came in the mail today with our spindle box. These were things I didn't think I could make properly and I am still unsure about buying the whole set of cylinder. Time will tell. Just about everything else I've made or am still making. I'm almost done painting some red rods that I had my neighbor saw off into the appropriate lengths from rectangular-prism-ish boards from Hobby Lobby. They sure do look homemade, though. Again, time will tell. I am planning on doing narrations with the boys this afternoon about our trip to the nature park today.

My 2 yo did her "materials" for a bit and then sauntered into the other room where a NickJr center was set up quite nicely.

Looks like ya'll have had a nice, full day!

I love the knobbed cylinders too. I'm trying to get the interest going with my dgs, but it just hasn't taken off yet. To me, they're one of the most beautiful and neat materials we have.
