I just wrote a way-too-long post on some of my Montessori stuff for next year. I would love input from you experts, since I'm just getting started. There are pictures of my geography center and photos of two of my continent boxes and their contents. If anyone is interested, I could take pictures of the content in the other boxes, but I just did two to start with for my blog. I also have a pic up of our preschool shelf. I'm kind of nervous to send you all there to inspect it, but here goes....
can't figure out links for some reason, but the link is in my siggy

I love your continent box ideas! Can you tell us where you found what looks to be felt people from other countries? Also what about the chunky book of the continent, or is that part of a puzzle? Where did you find these goodies?

Vicki,
The chunky books came from Montessori N Such. They came in a kit with a book for each continent. The felt people also came from MNS. I just had to cut them out. There was a fact sheet, listing the countries for each person, too, which was good because I don't think I would have figured them all out with 100% accuracy. They are a little "cartoonish", but still interesting.

Love it! But my very favorite is the picture of the baby sitting in front of the gate. I could write a caption for that saying, "Hmm... just wait til I get my hands on all that stuff..."
I'm off to look at your finds at MnS. I really like those felt people.

It looks great, Marianne. You'll have to let us know how the whiteboard goes with your older kids. I tried writing down a list of things my older kids could do every day last spring -- my ds 10 said he wanted the whiteboard because he thought we would just lose command cards -- and it worked, sort of, for a while. My ds 10 really enjoyed it, my dd (then 7) never wanted to do anything I put on the board, and I had trouble keeping up with changing the choices on the board. I had fewer choices than you do, though, and some of them were more specific. So I'm interested in seeing how yours turns out!
(I was going to try making some project/command cards this week using ideas from some of our project books, but I think I'll still use the whiteboard for my ds because he likes it.)
Also -- can't remember if I said this on your blog last night or not (too many distractions around here) but your art center is nifty! Where did you find the little cabinet? One of my biggest challenges is setting paper out. Usually we just go grab it out of the printer.

That's our usual method too :)
I have to agree, the continent boxes are great. I wonder if my kids might like to do something like that... I happen to know a certain 7 yo who LOVES map work!

Angela,
I got that a few years ago from Lakeshore Learning - on clearance, which means they don't have it anymore, and I just double checked.
We were also using the printer paper storage method until I reorganized a few days ago. Before, I was storing our coloring books in those trays underneath the pencils. I moved the coloring books to magazine storage racks to make room for the paper.
If I can find another art caddy that might be helpful, I'll come back and post.

Here's a cool option, if you have an extra chunk of change laying around:
