I have been looking for an easy source of language objects to use with th moveable alphabet- I had been looking at a set at M-n-such for $42.
Then I discovered.... buttons. Look at a store like JoAnn's and there are all kinds of buttons: fish, dog, cat, ship, tree, cup, bug, moon, star. But even better- ask somehow who sews if she has any buttons she's not using. In my case, good old Granny was able to provide me with a ton of cute buttons I can use, All sorts of little objects are made into buttons- even tiny snowmen and shoes and flowers. Just another option for the pink language boxes.

Excellent idea! Also try beads. I have cat, dog, fish, and star beads in my language set from a bag of beads that dd has had forever.
