Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/montessoriworldwidealbumclass/

I know I've heard all this info before but can't for the life of me figure out where. This is a brand new group so I know it wasn't this same one. I'm thinking that the other group was the one that did on-line trainings for $10 a month that someone said they enjoyed.
This is the same thing but you get your first month free as a trial period which is why I joined this one.
The person's name is Karen.
Just trying to be sure I'm learning from someone legit since this is all new to me
thanks

I took this course last year. Karen is very much legit. She is an awesome lady. She is knowledgable in things of Montessori. She is trained and has been teaching Montessori for quite a few years. I had to quit the group in Jan. due to some life difficulties that we were having, but I do not regret the information and resources that I acquired during my time in that group.

Blessings,

I am taking one of Karen's courses- I highly reccomend it! Karen is wonderful and the organized format really helped me get a handle on montessori.

Julia and Donna Marie and anyone else with some experience here,
I'm hoping for a little more info on the class. I talked to dh and he thinks it would be a good idea to sign up, so I did.

Can you guys give me a little more of an idea about the structure of the classes? Are they at a certain time each week? Or do you just get online when you have time and download the albums? There is an actual class right?

Forgive me, but the yahoo sites are not very intuitive at first - they're not all pretty like our little forum here I clicked a few places from the left sidebar, but I really can't figure out much of anything. Thanks for the handholding!

Jennifer, don't feel bad, it took me a few times to get it all figured out as well. I am signed up to take the class beginning July 1st-ish. Here is the welcome letter I received from Karen to give you the flavor:

Welcome!

I’m so excited to have you join the group! Here is some information you might find useful:

My plan is to start July 1, 2007. Three times a week I will be adding to our first album which will be Practical Life. You will get lessons, photos and forms (when needed). We will discuss the lessons and share our creative ideas. This class is set-up on 4 month terms. July, August, September and October will be our first term.

You will find a questionnaire in our file folders that will help me and your classmates get to know you! This is an optional request and you may participate if you would like to.

A few thoughts on “Respect” – I know we all won’t agree on everything, but out of respect we need to discuss and listen to different opinions. This is the only way we can all learn from each other. We should never be afraid of learning something new! Rudeness won’t be accepted at any time. If anyone has a problem during this class, please be sure to e-mail me and I will do everything I can to fix it

Upon completion of this 20 month course, you will receive a certificate that will say that you have completed a pre-primary training course by World Wide Montessori Online and signed by me with my AMS notation. It would take a lot more for you to become certified as a Montessori teacher with a credential. In the school I attended you had to have a 4 year degree and then take the 3 year Montessori training certification course....as well as pay close to $4,000. I also had to have 9 months as an intern. If this is the training you want then I hope you live close to a certified training class. My course, as it states in my literature, does not take the place of a certified course, but will give you the knowledge you need as well as the Albums for curriculum to teach the Montessori Method.

Here is a little bit about my Montessori educational background. I graduated 18 years ago from the Montessori Teachers Education Center - SF, Bay Area. The Program Director was Dr. Pamela Z. Lanaro (now Rigg).   I received my AMS at that time. You can check out my school's website at www.MontessoriTEC-SF.com It is my understanding that they are affiliated with additional branches of Montessori now.

There isn't tuition for joining, but I do ask for a donation of $10 per month or $30 for the 4 month term for downloading my albums for you to keep and use for yourself. Most of my students pay through www.paypal.com by using my e-mail address threadhead@neb.rr.com. If you would like to pay in another way, we can chat and arrange that...so don't worry about it.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your love for teaching children.

Blessings!
Karen

I'm excited to start and don't feel like it's going to be an imposition or inconvenience on my time, just a little more reading and planning
HTH, Blessings!

Thanks Meredith - I got the same letter, then in an attempt to email the moderator (Karen,) apparently I emailed the entire group. I am such an idiot ! Oh well, surely as I stumble into the group someone will notice me and take pity on my less than intelligent introduction of myself. Apparently, I needed a dose of humility this afternoon!

I figured that it would just be a case of a little more reading, which I'm willing to do. It will be good to have the direction. I'm excited to start. Maybe I can sit in the back row with my head low after my glamorous entry

Yes the format is pretty simple, monday, wednesday and friday Karen uploads a few presentations for the current album. She also posts pictures of kids doing the work in the photos section. You can download the files whenever and post questions to the group. I sometimes get behind with printing them out, then I just wait till the entire album is online and print all at once. Karen also puts in some additional articles about montessori theory once in awhile. In my class people would sometimes share their montessori material files also. It is a very low-key sort of "class" as there aren't really any required assignments- I had a baby a few months into it, as well as just being generally busy with homeschooling and such. The cost is so decent for all the albums you get and Karen is great!
