Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I saved up for a long time for Moira's books then just before i bought them an atrium was started at the parish.

Its good and dd and ds enjoy being with other catholic kids once a week but frankly im disapointed...I wanted to be the one having all the fun!

We still do a lot at home but dd has asked for figures to do some of the lessons she learned at church...

would it be overkill to buy the manuals and do lessons at home do you think?

(i just want an excuse to buy more books too! )

Oh, you lucky, you!, Maggie.

I'll have to travel to visit Natalia to get close enough to a 4Real atrium. Not a bad idea though...

I say, you definitely deserve to have fun! And you'll have the easy part because the children will have been presented the lesson at the atrium and will have a profound respect for their materials at home. I think you'll all the experience. I know we do.

Go for it!!!

Maggie -

Does the Atrium at your church have assistants in addition to the catechist? You could sign up to be the permanent assistant so that you could work with the materials and participate in the lessons there until you can get more of the materials made for your home Atrium. (Not that you shouldn't go on building the Atrium at home -- that would be even more fun).

Peace,
Nancy

I have an atrium at our parish (I am currently the only trained catechist and set it up from scratch (well, more than that really, but that's a different story)) and we have one at home as well. My son, who has been with me that last year and a half at the parish cleaning, setting up, making materials, doing the basic presentations with him (and he sits in on the older kids' presentations), for two atrium sessions a week - also LOVES having the work at home as well. It allows him to explore the work at his leisure, not just when we have programmed atrium time.

He's not quite 3, but all the exposure has definitely developed him into a very gentle boy (at least when it comes to the materials and being in certain locations - he still loves to wrestle with anyone who will let him), and throughout this past year, he has shown a deeper understanding of the truths of our faith than I ever thought possible, even though I've taken the training and been in other atriums.

(of course, my son has also attended 3 of my Level II trainings with me as well! When I told him Mommy was learning about the atrium for the even bigger kids, he was very good and either paid attention to the presentations, or would occupy himself with the activities I'd brought with him - the trainer even let him go into the Level I atrium for an hour by himself at one point - he loved it!)

You could either buy Moira's books or volunteer in the atrium, or both. I've not seen Moira's albums myself, but one of these days I very much would love to see them, as I'm always interested in others' experiences.
