Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I shared that we are seasonal learners, but I'm wondering now on this gorgeous spring day whether there is more to seasonal learning than what I posted. Natural science seems to wane in the winter when history and religion are easier to digest. And vice versa in spring summer and autumn. When reading *must* be done in beautiful weather, it is most often done in trees or the treehouse.

Do you find that your focus shifts in different seasons? I have tried to fight it before, but it just doesn't feel natural to complete workbooks (read the first paragraph) when their hands should be filled with trowels and plants.

I have been thinking about seasonal learning, too.   Funny how we can have our rhythms that are based on what works rather than what the school system designed.

I like the way you describe going all out on Monday and Tuesday and then relaxing in the later parts of the week. We do something similar but opposite -- Monday is a light day IF the kids are up to date and Friday is our catch-up day.

It happens to us. The outside begs us to be there right now, examining caterpillars, gophers the cat catches, birds, etc. In summer, I find we read a loud a lot less than other times of the year. There is just so much to do outside. However, I do have to temper some things because I live in a place where the weather is nice 9 months of the year.
