Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm struggling with ideas for occupying and extending Dd2 when the older ones are busy with their lessons. She is a good little girl and likes to sit up with everyone else and join in. I set her up with colouring in or a 'handwriting book' or offer her a couple little actitvites to do like threading beads. But I feel these are more 'babysitting' and not really doing her justice.

Does anyone have any great suggestions of activites she can do whilst I am busy with the other dc? We are now living in a very small home (120 sq metres)so I can't set her up in another room as there isn't one Obviously the activities need to be something that isn't too mum intensive.

Previously dd would be busy with her big sister but as big sister is kindergarten age now they can't always be a twosome. This is the first time when I have had a new kindergartner to begin my next child wasn't pre-school age. I am finding that having a 2.5 yr old with a kindergartener much different than having a pre-schooler.

I wouldn't worry about "not doing her justice".. is she enjoying them? They can be quite good for fine muscle coordination which is a lot of what little ones are learning. The imitation of the older kids (sitting down with a "workbook") is very good for the littles as well.

Also consider, puzzles (the wood ones maybe that are cutouts, not jigsaws), playdough, legos, scissors and paper to cut with (if she can cut and if you want her to be able to ), small blocks (dominos can make excellent small blocks), a tub with rice or beans in it and scoops and funnels and such to pour with, scrap papers and glue stick..

Jodie,
Thank you so much for the ideas, I don't know why I didn't think of them already Brain freeze I think.

I did the rice pouring idea, she loved it, I found dd5, ds7 and ds10 in the kitchen also doing pouring for ages and dd13 admitted to me later that she also had a go

Jodie -- FUNNELS -- what a great idea, I'd forgotten all about funnels!
