Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

say...
Sort of shows how my day was:

"In this house, we don't sit on someone else's head"

(Does this mean it's ok to sit on your own head, or that it's ok to sit on someone else's head at grandma's?)

"Please don't put your teacup in your pants"

I love two year olds!

And here I thought my 2.5yr son was strange for wanting to sit on his brother head.

We've been trying afternoon teatime-that's where the teacup comment came from. She said she was putting the cup in her pants so she could have the same cup tomorrow. Very logical thinking.

Haven't many of us thought, "I should write this down," about the funny things our children say? Thanks for sharing! It would be fun to have others post funnies out of the mouths of babes .

God bless,

This probably isn't unusual, but ds is 19 months, and just in love with "big trucks" lately, especially the trash man. I run him to the window when I hear the truck coming, and it makes his day. Last night I was putting him to bed, our usual bedtime routine is "God bless ..(fill in the blank)" with the usual Mommy, Daddy, Papa, etc. Then he said "God bless trashaman" (we joke that he's a bit Italian). I was so surprised by this coming out of the blue!

Trucks must be a boy thing.... my son also loves trucks. In fact, we've been known to wait outside our house for 40 minutes because he could hear the trucks making their rounds.... at least I took the opportunity to enjoy spring!

The strangest thing that has happened recently is that my son decided to hatch eggs... a fascination with ducks lately. So while I nurse his baby brother upstairs, Christian proceeds to take out chicken eggs out of the refrigerator and sat on them in my kitchen! I could hear the "Where the ducks, Mommy?!" and thought nothing of it. I should have known better.

I know this is an old thread now, but I can't resist, because dh and I (and our best friend couple) have joked about keeping a list of "Things we thought we'd never say."

My best friend's favorite is "Please don't leave your toast on the toilet seat."

Mine is, "Please don't floss your toes with your string cheese. "

:-D

Okay, here's mine...

(Envision a 4yo, 3yo and 1yo little boy, all standing in the shower after a muddy afternoon on the farm)

"Please don't go potty in the shower and if you have to go potty in the shower, please don't do it on your brothers."

I don't know about this boy stuff! So gross!

They don't have to be little to say funny things. A few days ago I found my 10 yo ds frantically scribbling away. When I asked him what he was doing, he announced he was making a birthday card for President Bush. Later, when I glanced over the enclosed note, I noticed his somewhat perplexing opening paragraph:

"Dear Mr. Bush,
My name is Nicholas. I am 10 years old and I was born on December 6th or 8th..."

I loved the "don't floss toes with string cheese" comment!

Our 2 yo just announced that he was Nicky's wife. Nicky is our female German Shepherd.

He also runs around the house with a sword his sister made for him loudly yelling - "I dub you knight" . He has also dubbed the German Shepherd.

He also demands his cloak pinned on and runs around yelling - "I'm super emperor!"

The kids are not that young, so I thought I was home free...

Until I heard myself asking, "Who duct-taped the cheese box to the dog?"

I actually had to say "Stop licking the hamster" recently. Completely freaked me out.

Must be something about Nicholases:

Nicholas (4), crying: I punched Stephen (6) and he punched me back .

Me: And Nichol, what's the problem here?

Nicholas: You said that if someone hits you, you're supposed to tell Mom or Dad! Stephen broke the rules. He wasn't supposed to punch me back!

Apparently, there's no such thing as a free punch!

6yo Ian looked intensely at his chubby 2 month old brother's deeply creased wrist and asked, "Doesn't it look like you could just twist his hand off, Mom?" Oh my...luckily he didn't try!

Love,
