Molly came a bit early, and I really had not prepared anyone for the nitty gritty of labor and delivery. The boys are never there anyway, Abby has been there for a few previous deliveries, and I really didn't anticipate any of the children but Abs being with me anyway. But, as it turned out, Mary, 4, was there in Dads arms through much of delivery. A few times I looked up to see her wide brown eyes and huge smile. Luckily, she took it all very well....except one small detail.... Molly was laying on the floor in front of me, the cord was between her legs, and Dad set about the business of cutting it. Immediatly afterwards, Abby went running upstairs to announce to her brothers "IT'S A GIRL!!!" (they had no idea that I was even in labor, they slept right through!) Just after her though, Mary burst into the room and exclaimed "Well, it WAS a boy until Daddy cut his privates off!!!!!"

We had to straighten that one out right away of course. I still laugh out loud when I think about it!!

Oh, Lisa, that is hysterical. It's not the first time I've heard of someone being "confused" by the cord - have even heard of adults (i.e. dads).
