Hello dear ladies,
On Monday morning, Cash and I were asked to adopt a newborn baby girl with Down Syndrome. It all happened very fast and was not something we were seeking, but God has his plans and this one is pretty special. Her being in our home today is because of what I consider to be a heroic decision by my husband and there has been a tremendous peace in our family since we gave the official yes. There are many amazing parts of this story that we hope to one day share, but for now we just ask for prayers for the birth parents for their brave decision and that they experience peace in their hearts and lives. They named her Viviana which means 'life' and we have chosen to keep that name as her middle name and call her Rose Viviana. She was born on Saturday and is as sweet and beautiful as can be. Praise our good and generous God!

Update - November 23
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers! I am overwhelmed in the very best way at the response of our family and friends and even neighbors about baby Rose. She is doing well but we are learning more about her medical needs, mainly two holes in her heart and a failed hearing test in one ear. She has an eye infection, too, poor thing! But overall things are going very well with her and the rest of the family. Bringing her home was no different than when we brought any other baby home from the hospital. It was very sweet to watch my other kids, especially the three youngest boys, love her up and fight to hold her. We are very happy.
Cash and I are trying to navigate what we are now calling the business side of this whole beautiful thing. We were quite naive about this and especially about the costs involved. Although we were told most of it initially, I did not fully understand some legal things such as a retainer is not a fee for the attorney. We are exploring a few avenues to see if we can bring the cost down. It is quite a process but we are trying to pray and give it over to God. And, maybe for the first time in our marriage, I am really, truly letting Cash lead this process. That may be the second biggest blessing, besides Rose herself, in this whole thing. :)

This is wonderful, Erica!!!!  Be assured of our prayers for your whole family, for baby-Rose and her birth parents.
Please post a picture when you are able! My girls just LOVE hearing about sweet adoption stories like this and will pray pray pray especially when they see the babies' pictures!
