Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There - that is my yell! Came in my room, shut the door and did a virtual scream to you all!

No advice needed! I know - been homeschooling 13 years so I know these days come. But do both dd and ds have to grumble about school on the same day! I deal with younger ds - piano practice, math both grumbling. He finally stops when I say TV will be gone rest of week (may sound harsh but I REALLY need them to keep their grumbling to themselves and respect me even if they don't like what I ask them to do). I get him finishing his math lesson on his own. I go to do algebra 2 with dd. WHen we grade the previous lesson - I don't get mad if she skips a problem when she isn't sure but I hate it when I calmly re teach the thing and then have her do the skipped problem. She grumbles because she would rather I just tell her how to do the problem then her try it herself. Oh well. Told her to go eat breakfast (yes it is 9:45, she is terrible about NOT eating breakfast!). I said I WILL NOT grade and teach algebra 2 until she EATS BREAKFAST! Then said if her attitude doesn't improve her ipad and laptop are taken away for at least today!

Geez. I don't ask them to like homeschool. But I hate it when I have days when they just take turns grumbling and complaining!

Knew you all wonder understand! Thanks for listening to my rant!

Barb, we had a terrible week last week and started Monday on the same track. My kids are now completely restricted from all electronics (except PBS on tv which I allow for the littles). This is "until further notice". I told them when they started taking responsiblity for themselves, doing their chores, being respectful ... THEN they would get their beloved electronics back. It's actually rather peaceful around here now. That was only one day though. We'll see what today holds! I definitely have a love/hate relationship with electronic devices (as I sit here merrily typing away at the computer! )

Must be October!!
We had the same thing here. Now screens are suspended, indefinitely, and serious work is being done. I'm wondering if we start off strong and then start to slack and pretty soon nothing is getting done, except complaining.

Ironically, Barb, I often ask my children if they could all have their bad days at the same time, rather than separately...
