We're at the end of day #4 of potty-training lockdown with 3yo DS and we're in exactly the same place as on day 1. As long as we go every 20 minutes, he's dry, but if I try to stretch the interval, he doesn't make it. This was was fantastic for day 1, but isn't sustainable long-term as the house is a wreck and we're all tired of peanut butter toast and frozen fish sticks on paper plates. We also haven't managed to get even one solid 'deposit' in the potty yet.
I really think he can do it, so we're going to clear the schedule for a bit longer and stick with the timer for a few more days, but I need some encouragement!

Just stick to it, I was feeling that wy with the twins, especially ds, as he had really no FULL understanding at all of the whole potty thing at first. He would say "Yay!" when he'd done nothing at all, and then just sit there blankly when he'd gone pee. But, after a week or two (I think it was 2 weeks it took for it all to click), and LOTS of prayer(both ourselves, and asking for prayers here), he "got it". He still is a little funny, months later, in that he thinks he has to tell us he has to go potty EVERY time, even though their potty chairs are set up in a little corner of the living room(we keep them up, as with one bathroom, and 3 very young pottiers, among the rest of us, we would have major traffic jam problems in the bathroom ), and when he says he's done, he will still sit there waiting and waiting to get up and pull up his pants, it's like he's deaf when we tell him he can get up and pull up his pants.
The main point? He IS miraculously potty trained, and we are so very happy for that. Just stick to it, and it will click!!!! You've been through the hardest days! Don't give up! The light at the end of the tunnel may be fading from the drudgery of the task, and how long it feels like it's taking, but it will change, and you will look back so happily VERY SOON and see how glad you are you stuck to it, and that h\e can potty himself.
I'll pray for things to finish out miraculously smooth for you, and that things will start to click!
