Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi ladies,

My daughter has been having some problems since the end of March. She has been super conscientious about everything she has done and thoughts she has that she thinks are bad. I originally thought this had to do with her receiving her FHC in April because she would mention that she hopes she doesn't have any mortal sins on her heart before she received for the first time. I would constantly reassure that she has been to confession and all the things she is worrying about have already been forgiven. After her FHC, she was back to her normal fun-loving self. But now this last week it has started all over again. She mopes around all day constantly by my side telling me all her thoughts and things she has done. She constantly will say things like, "My head is telling me that (insert any person's name she may be thinking about) likes me, I don't know why" Then she will tell me that this makes her feel funny or weird. Her whole personality has changed, she seems depressed and sometimes she will cry. She also asks me if it's ok if her friends tell her secrets. She feels guilty if she doesn't tell me these secrets even though they are just silly 7yr girl things. She will ask me if it's ok if she doesn't tell me all her thoughts. The list goes on. I remember my older daughter going through something similar but she was a little older and she is fine now, so I am hoping this is just a phase. Has anyone else gone through something like this. Should I be more concerned or take this more seriously? I hate that she feels sad, it breaks my heart.

Here is another example of what she just told me 2mins ago. We were at dance recital rehearsals this week and she just asked if it was ok that she didn't clap at the end of one of the dances. I also think all this worrying is making her sick. She threw up yesterday morning and she told me her tummy doesn't feel very good this morning and that sometimes her head hurts.

The description of your daughter's behavior reminds me of what we call my daughter's "worries," or obsessive thoughts. She describes it in the same way as your daughter, that her "head is telling her..."   We discovered that her obsessive thoughts were related to a strep infection. It's a syndrome called PANDAS. I copied and pasted below a link from a previous thread (I'm not sure if I did it right).

I just today read this article about PANDAS.

On Thursday, the International OCD Foundation, or IOCDF, warned that mental illnesses such as OCD can be triggered by infections in children.

“If a parent recognizes these symptoms developing seemingly overnight, along with a glaring change in their child’s personality and/or behavior, they should immediately have their child tested for strep,” agency officials said.

So, if these behaviors seem like they have arisen out-of-the-blue, I would definitely check out that aritcle that crunchymom posted and have your daughter checked for strep (especially since she is having some stomach issues and headache).

I'll be praying for your family!
Edited:   The link didn't come through in my cutting and pasting, so here it is.
