Tonight as we were driving along in the car, my youngest ds (almost 9) said, "I am the handmaid of the Lord!" (At least he was listening at Mass  ).
So I, being ever the vigilant-for-the-teachable-moment-homeschooling-mom, replied, "Yes, it is so good to serve the Lord. A "handmaiden" is a girl, you could say, 'I am the servant of the Lord'."
"But I'm not the SERVANT of the Lord," says he, "I am the HAND-MADE of the Lord...He created me with His own hands! That's why I'm so great!" HAND-MADE!!! ROFL!!!
Not once in all these years of parenting did I ever think of this unique interpretation of Our Lady's words! 
Hoping you, too, realize how AWESOME and GREAT you are...after all, you are HAND-MADE, too!

That's AWESOME!! Kids are really great, aren't they?!?! They -- by nature -- think outside the box. I love it! And I don't think I'll ever be able to think of 'handmaid' in the same way again.
