Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm having a hard time getting all my Lenten prep done and I think it's because baby is due in 5 weeks and I know that they'll be a big upheaval happening. I'm trying to keep things simple, but feel like I'm overthinking everything.

So, if you've welcomed a new baby during Lent can you share what worked for you and your family during that time>

Thanks so much!

Melissa

There are 2 or 3 Lenten babies in our family. Two always have Lent birthdays in March; the other was born on Easter Sunday in a year when Easter was almost as late as it is this year; this year her birthday falls on Good Friday.
These were dc #'s 2,3, and 5.

We kept it VERY simple. A count-down chain made of purple paper with Lenten suggestions written on the inside of each link. Each day we cut one down and either prayed for the intention or did the action on that link. One year we had a jar into which the children dropped a gummy bear whenever they did something especially Christ-like. On Easter we counted the gummy bears, ate them (of course), and donated $1 to a pro-life cause for each candy in the jar ($50?). Thinking back, a more Easter-y theme to the candy might have been better; jelly beans?

Praying for you and your baby through these last few weeks of pregnancy.

Peace,
Nancy
