Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There was this card game that I played with my grandma when I was younger - maybe the late 80s and I can't find the name of it for anything!

It was sort of like Scrabble in that you had make words, but each card had sounds/letter-groupings with which to create words.

I *think* you could borrow parts of other words - or maybe you could just add on, I don't exactly remember (or maybe you could use other words that were laid out, but you had to completely use them?????).

Anyway, my son is all over Scrabble, but it's still a bit difficult for him, so I thought this game would be great - if I could just remember it!

I don't know if this is it, but it sounds a lot like Scrabble Slam.

That looks like fun too! I don't think that was it, but we might give it a try anyway :)

I don't know the game you describe, but my kids have enjoyed Quiddler. It does require assistance at times and we often play in teams.

A variation on scrabble that might be a bit easier because you can change words already on the board by laying tiles over old tiles is Upwords. There are several versions by different companies. We find it fun but, again, the younger kids need help sometimes.

This site has other possibilities.

And what about Chunks Word building game?

Catholic Mommy...I got WordSpot for Christmas, and immediately thought of your post when I saw the game...could that be it? We love it already!

That looks like fun too!

I'm getting so many ideas, but now I'm wondering if I've just made up a memory The one I'm thinking of was definitely a card game. It was rummy-like.

I do not know how I missed the link to Quiddler above - I THINK that was it! I was just browsing something else and somehow came across it - came back here to share and found it was already mentioned!

I think we're going to give QUiddler a try if we can find it at Goodwill or someplace.

Thank you ladies!

Putting in a good word for Word Rummy.
My ds loves to play... it is fun- being able to steal another person's word is a nice twist.
