Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have 2 weddings to go to this summer and I am looking, without much luck for maternity dresses. It seems like everything is cut short or very low. I'm not comfortable with that much skin showing.
Does anyone know of a store, on line or other, that might have a better selection for a "mature" (sounds better than old ) pregnant lady?

I found a dress at walmart.. it's a summer dress.. sleeveless but I wore it over a top like a jumper.. but it was in the plus sizes.. and was white and black and yellow (I think there was a floral one too) but it's just a loose dress but then the bodice to an empire waist is pleated (so that the bodice fits closer and then the pleats open from the empire waist down) And it's a stretchy drapey fabric.. it looks good.. I really like it.. and I'm about 5 months pregnant. Oh and it's long.. I'm 5'4" and it came close to my ankles.

Anyway I was excited.. I've been wearing it with a long sleeve under it as a jumper now.. and I'll be able to wear it with short sleeves as a jumper but it also fits me well enough that the arms and neckline are modest for our family and I could wear it in the hottest part of summer as a sundress.

ETA - because of the type of fabric.. if you wore a pretty wrap/jacket of some sort with it.. it could look quite dressy.

I purchased this for myself for a wedding this summer. It is maternity and NURSING!!! I have longed for such a dress.... it covers well, except it is sleeveless, but the straps are nice a thick.

That might be what I'm looking for, Herdingkittens! (Love that name, by the way. It makes me giggle every time I see it!)
Tell me, how do you think it would work for someone who's a bit ... busty? (Especially now!)

Thanks - an older gentleman was watching me walk across the grocery store parking lot with my littles (at that point we had ages 6, 5, 3, 1 and 1) and he heartily chuckled saying, "it looks like you are herding cats!" But I see them more as kittens....

Anywho, the fabric is gathered at the bust, so I am not sure if it would minimize or accentuate. You can play with that fabric a bit, too and spread it out flat.

I can tell you it is very forgiving below the bustline. Really you could wear it for pregnancy or anytime. Oh, it does run a bit long, so if you are shorter, you might need to have it taken up a bit. HTH!
