Can I gripe?
I think this baby has dropped. My due date isn't until the 15th of April. I'm 37 weeks now. I've not had one drop this early, in fact I don't know that I've ever really noticed one drop before so maybe he's not dropped after all, lol. I'm quite tall, so I never really get that "feet up under the ribcage" feeling, so maybe that's why I've not noticed the dropping thing. But along about night before last I was suddenly *much* more uncomfortable. I'm having shooting, twingy pains in my pelvis, hips, and lower belly, and I'm very uncomfortable walking/waddling around much at all. The only relief I have is from being on my bed on all fours with my knees up under me. Isn't that a pretty picture? But it's the truth, in that position everything feels ok again. Until I get a crick in my lower back from being bent up so weird. I have never gone into labor early, but I'm sure hoping this guy is a bit early and I'm not going to have to walk around like this for three or four more weeks! I'm supposed to go grocery shopping this weekend, and I have no idea how *that* is going to happen, haha! The baby has been much less active for the last couple of days too (but still active enough). I went to the midwife today and she said his heartbeat was found a bit lower and I definitely looked more protruding, like he had tipped forward. Anyway. This all means I'm going to go into labor any day now, right??? Please! Oh, that'd be nice. I've not even really been having that many Braxton-Hicks contractions with this baby though, so other than the possible dropping, there's not much evidence of that happening I guess. Wishful thinking!

I've had two babies do that The first time I was induced at 39 weeks for other reasons (and I was soooo ready that I didn't argue!). Unfortunately my last baby was actually a bit late .
I've found that floating helped a bit but mostly it was a matter of reducing the number of times I went up and down stairs and trying to not stay on my feet for more then about five minutes at a time.

I've had heaps of issues this pregnancy (5th) with pubic symphysis - the bone at the front which actually gets damaged in childbirth (it is how they tell on a skeleton if she has given birth). Most women think they have to suffer through it, thinking it is the pelvis, and sometimes end up in crutches or not able to walk at all. For me, I struggle to get off the couch when I'm in pain because walking just hurts. My chiropractor clicks me into place every time I am in pain - sometimes every 2 weeks, sometimes twice weekly. I think he used to practise kinesiology (many chiros don't work on the front) so I'm not sure if you might need a chiropractor or kinesiologist. Needless to say, he is now my best friend . Do you think this may be part of your pain?

My baby is so low that the sonogram tech couldn't get pictures of the top of his head without some manipulation. Sending me to the bathroom helped, too. I'm only 24 weeks now and the sonogram was four weeks ago! I tend to think that the muscles just stretch and relax the more babies you have. How are you feeling today, Melanie?

I'm feeling better than when I posted, thanks! But still pretty darned sore. I have looked up pubic symphysis dysfunction and I think Natalie might be right. It sounds right on. Everything I read specifically talked about the pain involved in rolling over in bed because the joint is so unstable, and that's right on for me...rolling over in bed is very uncomfortable. The other pains seem to vary from day to day. Today one of my hips hurt. Another day it might be the other hip, or my lower back, or my pelvic floor. Yesterday I tried to move a chair by pushing it with my foot....yikes, that hurt! But, from what I've read it can get a lot worse too, so I'm trying to be grateful. I'm also debating...I was going to paint my living room next week...not so sure that's a good idea now, .

I'm due on the 15th too, Melanie, and although I've been feeling really good, we just moved last week and I did basically the same thing--tried to move a box with just my foot. A big POP, following by stabbing pain! Luckily, the pain was short-lived. Anyway, I'll be praying for you. The aches and pains of late pregnancy can be so draining, especially when they're worse than usual.

Melanie,
I would definitely recommend not pushing things with one foot - when I am out, that definitely hurts. It does sound like pubic symphysis. I was only adjusted last Saturday and was out again Sunday. I am seeing him today, and will ask him if it is more a chiropractic thing or a kinesiology thing, or both. He recommended keeping my legs together ie not playing with the children on the ground with my legs apart (does that make sense) or other things, like, um, . I also find it is a lot worse after I have walked around the shop for a couple of hours doing my shopping. So take it easy, and keep off your feet as much as possible. If you can find someone to adjust you, you will be amazed. It is truly like a miracle. Pain one minute, NONE the next. Amazing but true. It just takes effort to stay pain free. I need to remember to stop changing my toddler on the ground because I sit the wrong way.

Yeah, that's weird! Because usually it's pretty comfortable to sit on the floor cross-legged with the kids or something when I'm pregnant, and I tend to be a floor sitter...or ground sitter at the park and such. And now, well, it feels fine when I sit down, but then when I get up again, ouch! I'll ask around about adjustments...frankly I just hope to deliver soon. But that may be a few weeks off yet.
Yes, I've told my dh, forget it. It's broken.

Maybe I should tell mine the same thing - it might save us money on chiropractic!

I saw my chiropractor today and feel so much better . He said to look for a chiropractor, or even better, a chiropractor that does kinesiology too. I would recommend it, even if you have the baby in a week, you will have a week of a lot less pain. Maybe a friend knows of a good chiropractor? That is how I found mine. And I have just decided to start ordering my groceries online, which means I won't have to see him every Saturday anymore!!
