Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

anyone else out there on bed rest, that I could lift up in prayer?

I'm dealing with pre-term labor and supposed to be on bed rest for the rest of this pregnancy (as much as I can be with two active kids and a husband who works long hours). I've been through this twice before, and we made it to almost-full-term, so I don't have as much anxiety this time about losing this precious baby. but I am battling the blues. fears can multiply so quickly and grow into depression, and I just can't go there.

so I started wondering if there is someone else I can pray for specifically (in addition to "all pregnancies" and "everyone on the 4 Real prayer forum" which is what I tend to resort to in the middle of the night ).

I wasn't sure where to post this ... please move if necessary. thank you!

You are so sweet Viviane! I'm not on bedrest (and hopefully I'll stay out!) but I have done that before, at this same timing too. My little one is due first week of March. I'm trying hard to take it real easy and my dc are starting to find it amusing as all of a sudden we can be in the middle of the something, and I just know I need to go lay down. They think I'm lazy!

I don't know anyone else on bedrest. But I do know Wendy here on 4Real (and I know her IRL too!) is being induced this week!

I'll pray for you though! I recall bedrest being "nice" the first day, then the "niceness" wears off fast!

you got that right!!! the first day was , followed by

I tell my kids I'm not lazy, I'm gestating. maybe I'll start using that phrase I saw here, "co-creating life with God." that sounds ever so much nicer.

well, I guess I'll keep praying generally ... although I will happily keep your pregnancy and Wendy's induction in my specific prayers.

thanks, Kacky ... and many blessings on this last trimester!

viviane-i am in the first trimester of a new pregnancy and while not on bedrest would certainly relish the thought of your prayers. With this one coming so quickly behind losing my sweet Bryce, I am finding the anxiety to be pretty fierce and combined toll of grief and pregnancy on my body and my psyche has been pretty rough. So i'll humbly accept any prayers and will offer my wakeful hours, like this one, on your behalf as well.

oh, Colleen ... bless your heart! and bless that precious little life within you! I will be honored to lift you and your littlest one (as well as sweet Bryce and the rest of your family) up in prayer.

thank you for writing. and as a PS, I have always noticed and admired your DC's names ... what a great bunch of saints you are shepherding through this life!

showering you with long-distance hugs of comfort and prayers for peace.

I know that Kelly (Gratiae ut Deus) is on bed rest though she hasn't checked in here since she went on bedrest late November. She's due in mid Feb. I believe.

Oh, Viviane, I'm so sorry. I was on bedrest in March and April for placenta previa - and on Terbutaline (Brethine) too for contractions.    I hope you're able to at least take a quick shower every once in a while?

I'll be praying for you. While not pregnant, I'm praying I will be again soon even though my little guy is only 8 months old.   It really would be miraculous for us to conceive again (long story) so I figure I may as well start praying now!

thank you, Mary, I'll add Kelly to my prayers. and thank you so much, Sarah and Martha, for your prayers.

I'm not THAT restricted this time around, praise God in heaven! (hot baths are one of my favorite things these days! ) I am taking terbutaline for the contractions and can move around to take care of the kids, then lie back down. (I'm actually getting conflicting advice: my midwife is more relaxed since I've done this before; the doctors I need to see for the terbutaline prescription want me on full bed rest. our reality is falling somewhere in the middle.)

so I'm OK ... I mainly posted here because when I am down, I am so quickly overwhelmed by fears and anxieties that I wanted to focus on someone else. I actually feel very humbled and even more blessed when hearing about others' struggles ... my heart goes out to Colleen and those who are pregnant again after miscarriages. bless all you brave ladies who have done that!

anyway, thanks for all the prayers and prayer requests. it's wonderful to have personal intentions to pray for.

Do you know anyone living in a nursing home that you could keep in your prayers?

I was on bedrest with one pregnancy at the same time that a wonderful relative of mine lived in a nursing home. She confined mostly to her bed due to a serious illness. I found a special kinship knowing that we were going through "bed rest" together.

great idea! I don't, actually. but I could offer general prayers for the bedridden; I hadn't thought of that connection before. thanks!

and Nancy, thank you for the kind words. but I'm not really being generous ... just wanting to focus on someone else's burden to keep my mind off my own!
