ARGH!
I have gotten almost nothing for my husband, I'm just drawing a blank. His main gift this year was a used ham radio,,,he already bought it the other day. Still, I'd like to get him a couple of things to open on Christmas day and I'm just drawing a blank here. I haven't had much time to browse, online or in stores, so that's part of my issue. He is a big reader...any good book suggestions? He is new to ham radio stuff, I was thinking maybe some kind of subscription to a ham radio magazine or something. Anyone want to share what they are doing? Maybe it'll at least trigger an idea!

::consumable goods....my dh always get some sort of HOT SAUCE, Choc Chip Cookies (the kids each wrap a container that is decorated by them....that's FOUR presents right there!), imported beer (they wrap the beer individually too ), and some sort of chocolate. He cares about nothing else.
::Subscription to a Beer-of-the-month club...we did this one year and he LOVED it!
::Subscription to Netflix
::We always wrap his favorite candy bars individually...so he has a few things to open.

Does he have an office? I'm thinking of putting together a collage frame of family pictures for dh's office. Or other office supplies? When dh got his job I put together a box with a hot pot, tea bags, his own mug, and a jar of trail mix for that afternoon slump.
I've looked at beer of the month club before as well--it's usually hard-to-find microbrews.

No, he doesn't have an office. I know, that shoots down a whole bunch of man-gifts right there. He's a nurse. He has a locker, last year I made him a magnetic picture thing for his locker, and a new stethoscope. He's not a *guy*,,,he doesn't like sports of any kind or follow any teams. He doesn't hunt. He rarely drinks. He doesn't like cars or boats or anything like that. That all shoots down more man-gifts. He could care less about clothing so any gifts like that don't mean much. Mostly he likes to read, mess with ham radio stuff, and collect tools that he never uses.

Hm. That is tough. Is he clueless? I mean that in the most charitable of ways, of course. If it were my husband I could just ask, "So now that you've got your ham radio stuff, what else do you need? Is there some book or magazine or something?" And he'd never guess that I was fishing for gift ideas.

My dh is getting a book that he's been wanting, a movie, and he gets to open the external hard drive for backing up the computer.
I need to find more for his stocking though.. he has a little wood puzzle and chapstick.. plus all the treats.

And FOOD would be the ticket for him!!!!! Food is ALWAYS good...even for those men who don't really CARE about food (like my dh)......it's still fun to open a bottle of gourmet BBQ sauce or even a box of cereal that you normally don't buy. I LOVE opening my wrapped Salted Nut Roll EVERY YEAR!!!!
Just go GOURMET on any food that he even remotely likes.
OR....you could also think about "house gifts"....things for the house.....new mailbox, new garden hose, pruning shears, stool, a new lock for your bedroom door  , shop vac, twine (just kidding....but my girls DID give dh a roll of twine last year, cuz they heard him exclaim he was "out" at some point!) ....or maybe..... !!!!! Stuff like that.
I gave my husband a nice manly looking basket for his books, magazines and flashlights. OK, well....really it was for me cuz it drives me nuts.....but we ARE "one", aren't we?????

You know what I'd like for sharing with my dh is one of those "conversation starter" type of things.. but I don't want to get ones that are inappropriate.. one I saw for instance the reviews said past relationships are asked about and stuff.. umm no.. that's hardly relationship building imo.

Melanie your husband sounds a lot like mine! In not likeing the "typical" man things such as sports etc.
I got my husband a calandar he took me to store and pointed out to me saying "I want that"
Also a few movies he asked for. I made up a "picture book" of all different pictures I had of the two of us that I've been meaning to organize and finally did so he'll get that too. He's more into the sentimental type of gifts rather then the "stuff".
And I totally second (or third or fourth!!) that idea of food....I had wanted to get mine a whole bunch of snacky things that he loves to wrap up but with this little girl coming so early I'm not able to get out to the store so I'll save those things to get for his birthday in February!

HOw about a coupon book?
You could make up thing for him to do with each of the kids or even just a "Day at home with nothing to do" Day or a night out with you?
Candace did this one at His Mercy is New for her kids but there is a link to get some blank coupon templates. This is what I am going to do for my hubby this year:)

Ok, I think I'm done...
This is just...weird and spooky,,,but I went on amazon and looked up ham radio magazines and this public wishlist came up and was titled "hey Melanie"...my name. My jaw dropped. I thought, "Did my husband set up a ham radio wishlist and not tell me? Why on earth would he do such a thing?" Well, it wasn't my husband, it was set up in another state! But it had some book ideas, I ordered a couple of those, and a subscription to a magazine. I also ordered Lost Cities, that looks right up his alley. Some food goodies to round it all out, he *does* love food.

Mimi, the coupon books you linked are so cute...I think I may put together something like this for stocking stuffers. The kids will love them. My dh may likely forget all about his, after a month or so...lol.

On a blog, I read about a neat guideline: three gifts ala the Three Wise Men. One gold (a bling gift), one Frankenscence (a spiritual gift), and one mhyrr (a practical gift). So I got my husband a Roger Stauback throwback jersey, a CD of Rosary meditations to listen to on the way to work, and a bundle of wool socks. Not very romantic, but I think he'll like them, and none were too expensive.
I did the same with the boys. Perhaps if you think along those lines: bling, spiritual, practical, you'll come up with a neat idea.
