My 3.5 year old is about 40 inches tall and 42 lbs. She is outgrowing the five pt buckle in her toddler carseat -- which isthis one, I believe.
My husband wants to put her in just the booster seat, but obviously she needs the five pt harness still. Could you recommend any 5 pt. carseats that fit older bigger kids that still have alot of growing left to do in that seat?
I would ideally like one with side head rests because she still falls asleep in the car fairly regularly.
Thank you so much! I have no idea where to start!

The Britax are expensive but have seats for much taller/heavier kids.
And I think Graco has one that goes higher too.

A Sunshine Kids Radian 85 will do five-point up to 85 pounds (they have a 63 version, too). They are expensive, too, however.

Oh,sorry, I should have said that I WANT her to stay in a five point harness, not that she HAS to -- information like this is why I wanted to keep the five point still.
But if it's going to cost $250 . . .
I wasn't sure when you can legally switch them to an adult belt, but I tried to do some research just now and it seems to be 40 lbs maybe?

Age is not the determining factor it's height and weight. The car seat you have will adjust the shoulder strap for the right height. Annie

Well, if she meets the height and weight for the belt positioning booster option it looks like her current seat has, I'd be inclined to do that.

The recommendations for the seat I have now is 40 lbs max WITH the five point harness, which is what I would prefer.
You are right, I could use the seat as a booster with the adult seat buckle, but I wanted to see if there were (affordable? maybe? ) options for a five point for bigger kids.

to go much bigger it's a good bit more expensive.. especially if you compare it to a graco turbo booster for instance (about $50).. I have found some of the fwd facing only seats go a bit higher in the shoulder.. but mine outgrow all their seats by height not weight.

The Graco My Ride 65 goes to 65lbs fwd facing in the 5 pt harness.. and it's only $150 MSRP which means you could maybe find it on sale somewhere.. especially if you can find a clearanced fabric color/pattern.

We just got a Radian for our 5yo and I love it (and so does she!). I personally would not put a child that young in a booster. Going to a booster is not just about size but about maturity as well as the child must sit properly in the seat for it to be safe.
