I'm borrowing a Zolo ring sling from a friend and I love it - so much so that I'm considering investing in a sling for myself. What I'm wondering is: are all ring slings basically alike? Is there any difference between, let's say, the Zolo or the Maya?? If so, what should I know about the differences?

And finally, does anyone have a used one that they would like to sell? If so, PM me.

I have a Maya. I do like it alot, but it tends to hurt my shoulder. I love my Hotsling because for some reason it doesn't pull on my shoulder like a ring sling. Neither one has padding. I used a padded sling for years and loved it.

There are many types of ring slings, so you can probably find something that will work for you.

I would also suggest going there.

I like my maya ring sling. I don't know what the difference would be between that and a zolo. But the reason I like the ring sling is that it's so easy to take on and off and baby in and out etc. I think my favorite thing is that it doesn't have any padding on the sides.. so you can pull the fabric clear through the rings if you wanted.. but that lets me get it as tight as needed for any carry.. and one of my favorites is having baby on my front "tummy to tummy" which requires the sling to be pulled down pretty tight and the padded side rails can get in the way depending on the sling.

Though I've used other carriers.. I like a stretchy wrap too for instance.. and I wouldn't mind learning to use a non-stretchy wrap. I just didn't find the wrap easy for things like shopping where I'm in and out of the car and baby in and out of the car seat. I do like having two slings/carriers.. that way one can always be in the car (where I use it most) and one at home. And even when I would use a stroller I tend to toss a sling in.. just in case the stroller breaks at least I would be able to easily carry the baby.

I had a Zolo sling with my last baby after my Over the Shoulder Baby Holder died from too much use !

I love the Zolo sling. I have had many other slings that I used for all sorts of different occasions. But for a ring sling you can't go wrong with this brand (I can't comment on how it compares to Maya, sorry)

I got my on Craigslist and later got another on ebay for $30 each. Keep an eye out for good used ones.

Does the Zolo have a piece that folds out to make like a cap on the shoulder so it won't slide onto your neck?

Looking at the website it looks like it does..

so does the Maya

And it's unpadded.. I'm trying to think.. my maya is unpadded but are they making that now or did they go to lightly padded.. hmmm ah.. the lightly padded means the shoulder has a light pad, none on the rails still.

So I would have to say that about the only difference between the two is the types of fabric.

i've used the maya outside (swim meets) during the summer) so I know it's good for hot weather.. I'm not sure all of the zolo's would be good for that..

get one of each and have the best of both

The mayas are cheaper though.

I have never tried a Zolo, but I LOVE my Maya. I use it all the time. I found it at a local consignment shop for $13!

I've had both a Zolo and a Maya. They are about the same, comfort-wise, but my Zolo is so pretty...it's my favorite!
