Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The weather is turning cold and my baby boy, who has been barefoot all summer, will not keep anything on his feet. I have tried the robeez-style shoes that target sells, which is what I used with my last two babies, but he pulls them right off. I tried regular shoes, but you would have thought that I was torturing him- he crawled around crying and trying to pull them off his feet.

He just turned 1, so I am not worried about him walking outside, just keeping his feet warm during a Wisconsin winter.

I have always used thick cotton tights for my babies that wouldn't keep anything on their feet. Even baby boys can wear plain black or white tights without anyone the wiser

the thin footie jammies under clothes also work.. you can even put socks inside the jammies you might also try bigger socks so that they aren't stretched against toes.. if they can be loose on the toes some babies will leave them be.

oh and yes, tights can't be pulled off.. but they may go about with a good 12 inches or so of tight pulled off the end of their foot I've definately used tights for both boys or girls for warmth.. I even have one pair of tiny white tights just for use by babies (boy or girl) who are born in the colder months.. so they can wear those under their baptism gown

For outdoor wear, you can look for snowsuits with feet.

My MIL gave us a OshKosh toddler snowsuit with soft button on booties, a while back and it worked quite well for the children who didn't like footwear.

I live with the fact that as long as I don't bother to put socks on in the house (winter or summer), I can't expect my children to keep something on their feet in the house.

I survived my youth where I went sockless in an drafty old farm house in Ontario, Canada; my children will survive going sockless in Calgary, Alberta in a much less drafty townhouse.

[I even survived going barefoot when fetching something from the unheated summer kitchen as a child, my children haven't tried doing anything that foolish    ]

Thanks for all the ideas!

I do have a snowsuit that has feet in it, but I only like to use it if we are going to be staying outside, because otherwise it seems to be very hot for shopping/ church, etc.

I will have to go through my little girl clothes and see if I have any plain tights, otherwise I will definitely pick up a couple of pairs... and maybe see what I can find for thin jammies that would fit under clothes. I hadn't thought of that.

Maria, they also have fleece snowsuit types.. they're not as heavy as an actual snowsuit.. and it's what I generally use for taking a little one out but not being outside for too long.. they also have feet in them.
