Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My oldest child has started attending a Catholic school about 20 minutes from our house, so I am finding myself behind the wheel a lot more these days and am a little nervous about the daily commute. Can anyone recommend any specific prayers and devotions for the safety of my kids while we're in the car and my own caution and attentiveness as a driver?

Thanks!

well.. you could get the rosary on cd/tape/mp3 that way it can let you pray along with more attention on the road than on remembering where you are.

Our family always says this trip prayer when we drive for longer distances. I also say this when any members are traveling. It's a combination of two prayers, but I can't remember the source my mother used.

Along the ways of peace and prosperity may the almighty and merciful Lord lead us, and may the Angel Raphael accompany us on the journey. So may we in peace, health, and joy return unto our own.
Let us pray:

O God, who hast commissioned Thy angels to guide and protect us, command them to be our assiduous companions from our setting out until our return; to clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep from us all danger of collision, of fire, of explosion, of fall and bruises, and finally, having preserved us from all evil, and especially from sin, to guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

(Then we have lots of aspirations)

Our Lady of the Highway, Pray for us.

St. Christopher, pray for us.

St. Raphael, pray for us.

Our guardian angels and patron saints, pray for us.

I've been driving ds7 back and forth to school for the last three weeks, which is a 25 mile round trip. We pray the Rosary every time we get in the van.
