Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When do you start this? I thought I might do some gentle stretches and go for a walk at 6 weeks - but am finding myself too tired and also my chest gets too sore even if I have just nursed. I don't have weight issues - with nursing have lost most of my pregnancy weight - but thought exercise would be good for mental health and also "firming up" eg sit ups and stretches

I don't exercise on purpose much.. but considering the season, you might consider swimming for some light exercise.. it would support your chest at least and might help with that problem.

Thanks Jodie - unfortunately I am not able to tolerate chlorine so well - wish I lived near the ocean or a lake!

I think I will just hold the exercise until the fall when it will be pleasant to walk. Maybe just sit on the deck and breathe early in the morning

yeah, though I understand there are systems that you can use now that don't use chlorine.. salt I think.. if you ever have your own.

maybe you just need to start really slow.. walk to the street and back and then sit on the deck.. and then do that a couple of times.. or walk around the house etc. Don't think that exercise means you have to measure it in miles.. sometimes it's a measure of minutes (a couple of them)

I had a post-partum yoga DVD that I liked when I was newly postpartum. There are lots of exercise videos that are geared specifically to postpartum moms. I like Cyndi Crawford's which I have had for years. It has three different workouts with different lengths and intensities. The first one is twelve minutes and just very gentle stretching and toning. I have had it for probably ten years, though, so I am not sure you can find it.

Good luck.

My dh has offered to buy me this contraption off the tv but I'm not convinced

It's winter here and it has been raining lots otherwise I'd find time for some walks.

I looked at the T tapp exercise dvd's that the other ladies seem to like using here, but it seems like its only available in the US. Still I might order one because I like the idea of doing 15 minute daily workouts in my lounge room. There was a really inspiring story too on the T Tapp site of a lady who lost weight after having 12 kids.

I've got some pilates dvd's but I never seem to be able to do 'stuff on the floor', children crawl over me etc.
