What is your "family age", if you have one, for being allowed to wear make up?

We allowed our daughter to wear make-up when she was sixteen, but, not wild colors and we took her to someone to show her how to wear it so it doesn't look like she is wearing much.
God Bless

My 10 year old is allowed to wear lip gloss, pale toned nail polish and mascara. My husband would allow a bit more, but this is my limit. She dances, and obviously for recitals she wears much more.

We allowed mascara, lip gloss and nail polish around 12-13. I told her she could start to wear make up at 14, well her bday was in March and I'm still putting her off. My plan is to get dd started with mineral make up. One of the big malls in our area has a Bare Essentials store so when I get the energy I'll take her there. I too want to make sure she learns how to apply it correctly and choose the right colors.

Ok, well, I'm glad some at least allow it around my daughter's age...I had told my daughter, who will be 13 in September, that she could wear a bit when she turns 13. My mother is horrified. So I was doubting myself. Which is kind of like shutting the barn door after the horse escapes, kwim? Cuz she'll die if I change my mind now. I guess when I told her "13", 13 felt very far away, .
She has been allowed to wear pale lip gloss and paint her nails. I think at 13 we will allow some mascara and some kind of foundation and blush. She really wants the foundation to cover up zitty areas like her forehead, and if she uses foundation she'll need a bit of natural looking blush or she'll look like a ghost. We are a pale people. My mom doesn't like the mascara, but I feel for her. She has my very short, very blond eyelashes. With brown mascara, my eyes don't look made up at all, just like I have normal lashes instead of my sad, sparse ones. We aren't going to do any more eye make up anytime soon.

There's a really good book by Carmindy of "What Not to Wear". I think it's called "The Five-Minute Face". She really puts an emphasis on using make-up to play up your strong points (not just to hide things you don't like about yourself). She also puts a big emphasis on skin care. The book goes through different skin and hair types, tips for application, and product/color recommendations.
I would be kind of hesitant to look to people at the store for make-up tips. Many of them are on commission and will tell you anything just to sell you more product. (I remember I got a free consult when I got married, and while they picked out some of the correct colors they put way too much on.)

My 10-year old is allowed to wear clear lip gloss and clear mascara (yes, there is such a thing, and no, it doesn't do anything for your eyelashes ). She is also allowed to wear nail polish, but I make her take it off when it starts getting chips. I told her she could use brown mascara, neutral eyeshadow and mineral makeup at 13, and at 15 or 16 can wear blush, eyeliner, colored lipgloss/stick, etc. Mostly, she just likes playing with makeup, and giving other people (me) makeovers!

My oldest is 11 and she is allowed to wear light colored lipstick/gloss. If she asks me to use more, I'd probably say yes, because she has alopecia and is often mistaken for a boy. So our rules for her are different than our other children.
I'm guessing we'll have the same "light lipstick/gloss" rule at around 11 for our others, but no other make up until at least 13 except for special occasions.
I need to learn to apply it well before I can teach my kids! I only wear mascara, and usually only to church. If I don't my parents hound me about my being "tired".
