that you just got and one of your dc nearly destroyed. I gotta know.
This afternoon our ds(5) decided it would be a good idea to take a green marker and shake it in a freshly painted (pale yellow) room with the first brand-new carpeting we have ever had. It had a nice splatter effect.  (No, have not studied Jackson Pollock!) Funny thing was, I wasn't mad, just really sad. I am even starting to chuckle, only because I was able to clean it up.
I know I am not alone with this kind of thing. Do share.

Well let's see.. would that be the time the (at that time) 3 yr old and 18 mo old painted my whole kitchen floor with blue and green food coloring? just moved into our very first "own" house rather than a rental and had the wood floors refinished beautifully and while the food coloring wasn't on those floors in the main.. how do you manage to grab the culprits and get them in the tub and clean up the floors without something getting on the wood floors.
hmmm or would it be the 3+ coats of paint that we had to paint the freshly painted white wall to cover up the green paint from the other wall.. and that's after washing off the green paint as much as we could.. and using kilz as the first undercoat of white.
The pretty easter decoration that had a couple of broken pieces that I finally got put all together again.. that the 2 yr old accidentally pushes off and it shatters into many broken pieces?
The brand new baby that the 18 mo old decorates with sharpie marker?
Honestly, they are supervised  .. they're just creative and QUICK

Well, two summers ago my soon-to-be 3rd grader broke a brand new, $30 teaching clock, when she was trying to see if the hands could move backwards. School hadn't even started yet! I was really bummed, and it was only a plastic clock. I can just imagine what it felt like to see green marker on your new carpet and your freshly painted walls!

My 5 yo son took a red pen to our brand-new, honey stained oak dining table. I'd love to say that I "just chuckled".........well, let's stop there.

A little over ten years ago we became friends with another family who had five children at the time; we had four (we both seem to have settled at six!). We had them over to dinner in our first house where we had just refinished the downstairs bathroom. After dinner, we parents were enjoying some coffee and cake while the nine children, all ages ten and under, played quietly. That should have sent up a red flag right there. But no, we just proudly sipped our coffee commenting on how nicely the children were playing and how we just didn't understand people not wanting lots of kids.. . it’s so easy, you know!
At that moment, it dawned on me that it was indeed, too quiet. As I passed the downstairs bathroom I heard water running. Thinking one of the cherubs must have left the faucet on; I poked my head in and looked. No water running in the sink. I looked up and saw water flowing down the wall from where the ceiling meets the wall. I ran to the upstairs bathroom which was directly over the downstairs bathroom and flung open the door. There stood my then 4yo dd and their then 3yo son with the water running, the sink stopped up with toilet paper, and about an inch or two of water on the floor (it was a small 1/2 bath). They were stark naked, laughing and splashing like nobody's business! Steam shot out of my ears and the only words I could blurt out were "YOUR FATHER!!!!!!" I ran down the stairs not knowing whether to laugh or continue my fit. But the sight of the two of them was absolutely hilarious! It still makes me laugh today! It was the first of many reasons we dubbed the two of them “Bonnie and Clyde”!

My 7yold ds has a huge tab he's working on...my dh and I say he'll have to pay up when we are old...we will do to him what he has done to us 
The worse so far (hopefully last!) was last summer. He threw a toy in anger and threw it at his bedroom window, which shattered! $400 later, he has a new bedroom window.
Oh and oddest would be when he manage to wrench one of the black keys OFF of the piano and "write" with it on the white walls all the way up the stairs.
He has carved his name with various utensils into various tables. I enjoy it when he tries to deny it. Come on little dude...it's your name...in your handwriting!!!!!
He and destruction are very close, unfortunately!

My mom came for dd's fhc and bought me an entire new wardorbe.
I needed it as everything i had was either left over maternity undies or clothes from BEFORE I got married 14 years ago it was all ratty and hmmm a little strained at the seams .
I never spend money on me. But she was instant and bought some 3 skirts , 5 shirts and 3 cardagins. We spent way too much.
Well it turns out the dyes were not quite color fast on my beautiful new clothes and my darling Valnetine baby has spit up on them so badly my new clothes are sort tie dyed  .
Splotchs and long drool stains all over .
At least they fit and are comfy because they are just not lovely anymore .

My FIL used to "key" his own new cars so he would not be upset when they were scratched or dented by others.
These days, we buy ours pre-dented...teenage drivers will have no fear in my cars!

Brand new pick-up truck parked in the driveway. Within ten minutes my dear grandson managed to pull loose some wiring in the tailgate so that half the lights (including turn signals) no longer worked.
The dealer was surprised to see me and the truck back so soon.

We were in our brand new house for two months when ds 7 was opening a brand new 1/2 jug of Cranberry juice at the kitchen counter right next to the doorway into the dining room. Need I same more. Not a pretty site.

Kevin hit a deer a few days after getting a new car. It still had the temporary license on it. The front end was just smashed. Even after repairs, it was never the same.
It was the only new car we ever had. God obviously wanted us to be detached from our vehicles.

In our first new house, my DD2 got a sharpie and colored on my corian countertops! She is still coloring on anything she can get to show up!

When my little sister was 3, she took a hammer to the side of my mother's brand spanking new BMW (which was a major purchase for my mother as we were not wealthy ... she had bought it with the settlement she received after being severely injured/run over by a mail truck). She also painted my dad's lovely oak executive desk with white out.
More than ten years later, when I was 15, I ripped the front bumper off that same BMW while backing out of a tight parking space at the mall -- there was a steel post I couldn't see near the elevator and it got hooked on the bumper and pulled it right off. I was mortified and swore I'd never drive again, but to her credit, my mom MADE me drive home (she was with me since I only had a permit). A week after she got it fixed, my Dad hit a 100 lb dog that ran out in front of the car. So it got fixed again, and then my sister started driving and totaled it. RIP, poor Beemer.
ETA re: my own kids -- Days after we moved into our house, my eldest drew in red all over the family room wall. Also, we just got new windows put in the kitchen, and my toddler grabbed a tool from the remodeling pile and swung at the brand new window as hard as he could and missed by two inches. Thank God.

This story was from several years ago when my son was about 3 or 4 and it's kind of gross but here goes:
Soo, those night time pull ups (full from the night with pee) are NOT to be slung around onto the closet door because they will virtually EXPLODE! The insides of the pants become little teeny tiny bits of pellets alll over the room. I had to take all his toys off his closet floor to wash outside, even had to take some shirts off the hangers to wash, shoe rack off the door, comforter off the bed and borrow the wet vac from the neighbor to suck up the rest of the leftover mess!! Oh...he did help clean up though and was quite distraught it was all over his beloved race cars so I was assured he wouldn't ever do that again (and he didn't).

A few months back, one of my children wrote thier name, followed by the words "good" and "smart" on the carpet with a piece of charcol.
After I regained my composure, I assured said child that what was done was neither good nor smart.
Thankfully, charcol vacuums out.

Not sure if it counts because it was actually a gift for him, but at 7, my oldest ds got up in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve and opened ALL of his Christmas presents... one of his gifts was a hamster. He opened the cage in his bedroom and promptly "lost" the hamster. I'm not sure how long it took him to come and wake us up but it was around 3:30 in the morning when he finally did... I was pretty angry and couldn't find the hamster, thankfully my dh was able to find it- after moving some furniture He said that he'd wanted to video tape it, but thought I'd explode- LOL! We laugh about it now and I almost wish he HAD taped it... but I may have exploded at the time.
KC- I also have a friend who's son tried "rock writing" on her almost new car. She drove straight to a body shop where they were able to buff it completely out... and they did it for no charge- she must have sounded desperate when she told them "please do something or his father will kill him!". LOL!

My cherub of a 4yo, who is very good, decided to bring some rocks into the house one day and thought that they would work well on the stainless fridge front. When DH hauled everyone in the kitchen to see who'd done it, DS very proudly showed Dad what he drew and that the face was smiley etc. We had a hard time punishing him, he's so darn cute. And now we have his artwork forever etched onto our fridge (and my dh doesen't allow magnets on the fridge. I put art on the corkboard )
