Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dd and I really want to get a first doll for our new litte blessing due to arrive soon. ( My dd (12)has only 2 dolls - her first one and her American Girl and both have so many memories - and we want to create memories with a first doll for our new little girl too)

DD is looking at possibly knitting one. The Waldorf type ones look so complex.

Anyone have any ideas for making or buying one?

Marilyn,

Re: a knitted one -- here is a teething doll that is very easy, very cute and that I designed for a very good friend back in Colorado .... this is actually patterned after a Waldorf early-baby style doll -- no face, etc to allow the baby "to imagine"....

Hope that helps....

Mary, thank you - this is awesome! Abby can do it easily in a week (and we don't have much more time). I may ask you some more questions if we get stuck...

My DD's first doll was this one which was nice because it is washable (most Waldorf dolls aren't). It's also small so it's easy for a very small child to snuggle.

Now that she is a little older, she likes this one because the change of clothes is fun.

Mary - Abby has already made the doll (I am still knitting!) But she did crochet the rectangle instead of knit. She is going to post a picture on her blog - I will send it to you. And I hope I will finish mine before baby girl arrives!!
