Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is my second cloth diped baby, and I love them, I really really do, up to a point. But she's 10 months old now, and once they start eating enough real food... . I hate rinsing these out. I quit using cloth with my last one right around this time. I told myself it was for other reasons, but really, looking back, I think this was the real reason. I'm so ready to run for disposables at this point, but I wanted to see if anyone has ever used one of those things that attach to the toilet and use to rinse out poopy diapers? It's $50, is it worth that? I know I will spend more than that in disposables pretty quickly, so I'm thinking about trying it if it really does make a difference.

If your little one is at all regular, you could try disposables when you know they are due and cloth the rest of the time.

Oh, and Aldi sells good diapers for about $6/30-pack in sizes 2-5. Not exactly what you were asking about...let's just say I totally know what you mean.

I know a lot of people who love their sprayers. I don't have one, but I have friends who wouldn't cd without one.

You could also try rice paper liners since their poo is also getting firmer as it gets grosser. Then you can toss it in the toliet with the poop.

There have been other threads about the diaper rinser. You could try disposable liners. Then you could throw away most of the messy stuff. I have them but always forget to use them.

I just throw on rubber gloves and offer it up! This too shall pass (eventually!).

Flushable liners. But I usually forgot to use them. I doubt that a years worth of liners costs as much as the sprayer, and way less than a year of disposables.   I couldn't flush them though, so I ended up putting the liner in the trash.

Poo never bothered me, but if it bothers you run for the disposables and feel no guilt! Being a mommy is hard enough and anything that lightens the load will only be a blessing. :)

I know what you mean sometimes I need a CD break and I do, I reach for sposies. Usually though if solids ( or less than solid more like smooshy) I give my son bananas almost everyday in the morn or lunch and that seems to make it much more easier on me when he goes.

Thanks all, gloves are a good idea. Many times I have to leave it to soak for a bit in the toilet to loosen it all up, and then it's really fun and messy! hehe...
I did order some rice paper liners, so we'll see if that helps the yuck factor. I'm really not terribly squemish. I used to be a pediatric nurse, .

I'm with you on the yuck! I did cloth with my 4 oldest, then it was a combo and now its the Aldi's brand. Cloth diapers just seemed to take so much more time, more loads of laundry, more diaper rashes...I gave up.

I'm so glad to hear that others have given up. The problem I ran into was the stinky house. My husband and I both could smell when I was cloth diapering and our water bill was 20 to 30 dollars higher for the month that we did. That alone pays for the disposables.

I've given up -- for the moment, I tell myself! But for me, it wasn't the poo or the smell, but the sheer weight of laundry -- I couldn't keep up.

I used paper flushable liners on top, then fleece washable liners. Together they really kept the nappies clean. I also dry-pailed and used an anti-bacterial nappy wash in the pre-wash. Never had a problem with pongs!

I love the word nappies (which I think refers to diapers) but what are "pongs"???

Yes, nappies = diapers.

Don't tell me you don't know what pongs are! And what about that great adjective, pongy?!

Pong=smell, stink
pongy=smelly, stinky!

Happy to share the love

Hehe...I've never heard of pongs either.
Well, my update is that we are still on the cloth. I haven't given it up. I do like cloth for a lot of reasons, and I'm not quite ready to throw it in I guess. I got an email that my bummi liners have come in for pick up. I ordered them with walmart's site to store, so I didn't have to pay shipping at least. I'm going to give them a try. They had good reviews on diaperpin's website, but I have my doubts...her poos are still awfully loose and seem to go everywhere, I have doubts that they will stay on the liner. Watch for exciting updates!!
