Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our now 7-month-old daughter has been sitting well without support since 5 months, but only when placed in a sitting position. She doesn't pull herself into a sitting position from lying down. Maybe my memory is off, but I thought our other kids who mastered sitting without support slightly later were also getting themselves into the sitting position a lot earlier than this? I can't figure out from what I was just reading about the milestone of sitting whether this is "normal" or not.

My youngest is just shy of eleven months. She didn't start sitting up when placed in position until about 8 months. It's really only been in the last few weeks that she's been putting herself in the sitting position.

This has been about normal for all of my girls, even though for some reason I get it in my mind that my oldest was a "late" sitter. Perhaps it's because I payed closer attention to those milestone lists than I do now.

Despite having "late" sitters, usually by 18 months my girls have been 3 to 6 months ahead of those milestone lists, physically and verbally. It's true that my children are exceptionally gifted , but I do try to keep those milestone lists in perspective.

My 9mold is "late" compared to my other dc. She just mastered sitting unsupported about a month ago and is no way near trying to get to sitting herself. She doesn't crawl at all. She has no desire to move other than to roll over a little here or there. She is so mesmerized by her toes still, she doesn't want to let them go!

We've resigned ourselves to her taking a long time to walk too...but we know we won't be carrying into her college dormitory, so we're good!

My seventh didn't sit unsupported or crawl until ten months. I worried about it.   But he was walking by age one year and in all other ways has met his milestones.

Maybe your daughter could benefit from some tummy time since the muscles needed for pulling up are different from the ones for simply sitting with support?   Also once she is crawling she will probably be developing those pulling-up muscles.
