Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In 2 weeks I'll be taking my 12 year old daughter away on retreat as a gift for her 13th birthday. I found a local convent that has cabins they loan out for a small fee. My goal for our time away is to encourage her to live a chaste life. I had planned to use the Passport2Purity materials from Family Life. They are a series of 5 or 6 talks on CD with discussion questions to follow. Has anyone had any experience with these. I'd love to find something Catholic but have never heard of anything like this. Does anyone have other recommendations?

Martha, my husband used it with our oldest son, and it was wonderful. He did weave in specifically Catholic teachings, but overall the program was quite compatible with the Catholic Faith. We also know a number of other Catholic families locally who have used it with their sons and have also raved about it (I know you have a daughter; I don't remember if I know anyone who's used it with a girl.). We are so pleased with the program that we're going to be ordering the workbooks for our other boys when their time comes.

Kelly,
Thank you for taking the time to write. This is exactly what I needed to know!

Martha, I'm glad the information was helpful. If you can spare the time, I'd encourage you to listen through the CDs ahead of time. My husband did so and found it very helpful. Also, don't be concerned if you find it taking longer than projected. My husband and oldest found it took longer than expected, in part because they incorporated daily Mass into the weekend, in part because my husband decided to go deeper--re: what the Church specifically says on certain issues. Please don't take that to question the solidity of the program though, as it is very solid... even certain things that other Protestants part with us about, this program is on the same page with the Church about.

God bless your weekend and your blossoming daughter!
