Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I stumbled upon this book while browsing at Amazon last week and it arrived today. It is an old Scottish tale about a man, his wife and their 10 children who welcome all passersby into their home. Eventually their home topples, everyone is distraught, until...they decide to have a home-raising and they build the family an even bigger home to welcome even more people. It is really a lovely story of a big family with big hearts. It'd be a great way to announce a new baby, so I may just tuck it away in my closet for if/when I'm ever so lucky...

Ach! That's one of our faves! We also love All in the Morning Early by the same author.
