Last night, I could not get comfortable in bed so I kept switching from my left side to my right side. I noticed ligament pain from my uterus down to my pelvic bones and my pelvic bones were popping. I had this with my 1st child later in my 3rd trimester and I don't know why I should have this during my 2nd trimester. My husband thinks maybe it's because I'm bigger with this one then my first. Has anybody had this during the 2nd trimester?

I should mention that the discomfort doesn't bother me as long as I know it's a normal thing to go through. I just don't know if it's normal during the 2nd trimester.

My pelvic bones shifted around quite a bit in my second pregnancy during the second trimester but not the third trimester. It was odd, as I recall, that those feelings didn't continue to the end of the pregnancy once they started, but as usual, that's my world. It's very uncomfortable. I hope you feel better soon.

I had this feeling very early in my 2nd trimester until the end. It was always very uncomfortable for me. Hopefully, it won't last as long for you.

Oh yeah. My midwife used to say that with the first baby, everything was just getting stretched out. After that, everything is already loose and ready to move. Hang in there. You are doing great!

yep, I snap, crackle, and pop with just about every move these days at 21 weeks and it'll become more so the further I get along. Sometimes it really hurts, esp if it's a particuliar pelvic section or my right hip gives out but most of the time it's just annoying.

My midwife told me the same thing Matilda's said. This pregnancy isn't such a problem but I had lots of issues early on with my second as well.
If you continue to have problems and it gets painful to walk (that happened to me) I found that sitting on one of those big Pilates/exercise/birth balls and lightly bouncing helped me maintain good posture and keep everything in line. I think it also got my daughter well-settled in the third timester and made for a quick, easy birth. Just make sure to get the correct size for your height.

I have never heard of this! I mean, I would get the pains from the muscles and ligaments, but I never felt my pelvic bones move. Wow. But so many of you have. And I have had big babies (above 9 pounds.) I would get shooting pains in the muscles right through to my thighs/groin that would take my breath away (I actually messed up the muscles to teh point that I pull them frequently, and it is pretty ouchy,) and my sciatica would hurt all the way down my leg. All my other joints would be snapping and popping (I have really weak ankles and knees and wrists....) But I don't think I have ever experienced my pelvic bones moving.
huh. Learn something new all the time....

I knew you ladies would make me feel better about this. When I told my doctor yesterday he just told me it was unusual for the 2nd trimester and then checked to make sure I wasn't dialated. I was completely closed up. My husband was there at the appointment and said not to worry about it and basically said the same thing you all were saying but I wanted to hear from ladies who experienced the same thing. So Thank You, Thank You! Oh, and that was my last appt. with that doctor. I'm transferring my care over to where Bernadette was delivered, at Holy Family Birthing Center.
