Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Latest baby, #7, has thrown us for a loop and we are doing formula and bottles. We've never done that before. The pediatrician said to go ahead and boil the tap water (we are on county water) for the first 6 weeks or so. Well, we are almost to 6weeks...now what?

What do you guys mix formula with? Should I start buying bottled water, or stick to the boiling, or does it matter??? I have no clue!

We filter our tap water to drink, so we always just used the filtered water to make formula too--no boiling, just straight from our pitcher.

We used it straight from the tap-warmed in the microwave to make dissolving the powder easier. We are on city water.

When we were on city water, I never boiled it, nor was I advised to.

We're on well water now, and we don't filter it, but I doubt it if we'll do much more with it if/when we need to use bottles for the wee ones.

I just used filtered water from our fridge dispenser. I boiled the bottles and top pieces but never the water used for mixing the formula. After those first few weeks or months, I switched to just washing them in the dishwasher, it gets hot enough, with no problem.

My #4 baby was the only bottlefed one and it's sort of funny walking through the store aisles like a new mom trying to figure out what you need and don't and how to do this bottle feeding thing. Everyone expects you to be so experienced at everything already as a veteran mom. I think my friends (most with 2 children who breastfed maybe 6 months) thought it was funny giving me advice on how to feed the baby too.

I never boiled the water. Just straight warm water from the tap. We always had either spring water or well water and never had any problems.

We keep a large Brita filter system on our counter. We use t he water from that to make the bottles. Water, scoop out the formula, mix with a knife or shake, pop in mouth...everyone's happy!

I loved loved loved watching dh feed our little ones. They are adopted so he would be so cute sitting on the hotel bed talking to them and feeding them. Lovely memories...

Kisses to your little one.
