I don't wear my baby all day long. I just can't. He's 6 months old and over 20 pounds (I haven't checked lately).
But I do wear the Ergo especialy for shopping and outings. Yesterday was blueberry picking and then Costco.
And all this extra weight is killing my feet. I already have foot problems. I wear special supportive shoes all the time. And now I'm developing new problems and my feet hurt even more!
I know I'm already carrying some extra weight on my own, but an extra 20-25 is wreaking havoc on my feet. Any suggestions? Anyone have similar problems?

Yep, me!
I also wear these specially made things you put in your shoes (sorry, don't know the name in English) and whenever I gain more than 10 kilo's (25 pounds) during a pregnancy, my feet start to hurt. I always thought this was because these 'shoe things' are specially made for me at a certain weigth.
However...now I think about it....my feet don't hurt when I carry a toddler (while not pregnant)...hmmmm, strange. Are you carrying your son on the front? I always carry on the back. Maybe that makes a difference??

After I had our first child my feet were killing me. I don't know that it was necessarily the extra weight, as I am carrying that much weight now and not having foot pain. I started taking wheat grass and within maybe a couple of weeks the pain left never to return.

Jenn,
I think I have a certain weight limit too. MB, at 10ms. is close to 30lbs. (we don't call him chubby, we call him substantial! ) I am having a very difficult time wearing him these days too. (not a good time of year for this since we are so active!) I know when I gain about 25-30lbs. in my pregnancies, which is usually around 6 months (I have always gained 50+ lbs. during pregnancy) my body hurts, mostly my feet. I think we all probably just have a weight limit before our bodies begin to protest!

My feet have been killing me this summer. I wish I could say it was due to pregnancy or carrying around a toddler, but unfortunately , I think it is just the aftermath of six pregnancies . For my birthday a few weeks ago, my husband got me an awesome foot bath! I add peppermint mineral salts to the water and the combination of that and the heat loosens my joints amazingly! It is by far the most useful gift he's gotten me in years! So I would say a hot soak would do you ladies some good. I am going to look into the wheatgrass, too. Thanks for the suggestion, Beth.

epsom salts in the foot soak may help too.. better if you could do a full bath with it. Also perhaps something for swelling? like pineapple/bromelain?
And you might want to check how you're carrying.. like when I start to get tired pushing the stroller I tend to lean forward against it instead of standing up straight and using my arms and shoulders properly for pushing.. and well.. poor posture often translates to soreness. So you'll want to be sure that you're carrying the baby with a good posture rather than what seems easier at the time.

What is the pain like?
I'll try a guess though,
Sharp pain in the heel,
Worse when you first wake up or when you've been off you feet for a bit,
absolute murder when you try to walk upstairs when it's flaring up?

During a pregnancy I bought Z-Coil shoes. They helped not only my feet, but my legs, back, etc. At the time I was working as a surgical tech, so I was on my feet all day.

No, I know that pain, the heel spur. Are you having that? My sympathies.
My normal pain comes from my overpronated/flat feet. My new pain is right below my toes, the actual ball of my feet. I think it's metatarsal arch problems -- burning, stabbing, tingling, numbness -- nerves being pinched, I guess. And they just hurt and ache all the time.

Jenn,
This probably won't help, but I thought I'd pitch the idea out there... look at Amazon for a book called Pain Free. It's divided into chapters depending on where the pain is, and has exercises, and the last chapter is a daily maintenance thing. I've been helped by doing the foot chapter (and the hip, back, and neck) and am now doing daily maintenance (and starting soon on the S-3 menu from his book called Pain Free for Women).
It's sort of the idea that chiropracters have -- getting yourself aligned properly. Please disregard if this is not what you had in mind.
You love your little fella but you don't love that foot pain! I'll pray for you.
