at your foreheads??
All my little newborns do this. I'm constantly moving my head up so that their gaze catches my eyes... but when they're one month old like my Philip, they all prefer my oh-so-attractive forehead!
Is there a really profound reason? Or is this just one of the loveable traits of newborns?

on a less profound level.. direct eye contact is stimulating.. and they may be regulating the amount of stimulation by not making direct eye contact.

I read once that since newborn vision is so limited, it is easiest for them to see contrasting colors, such as black and white. So maybe they are finding the contrast between forehead and hair interesting (i.e., the hairline). Or looking at eyebrows?
I'm a little embarrassed to be posting this "theory" . . .

Jodie that makes sense too! Because there are times when they are very engaging... so I just wondered what was the forehead fetish.
And Kath -- that actually was what I was surmising because I have dark hair and pale skin!! I just wondered if there was more too it!
Whatever ALL the reasons are.. it is endearing.
