Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

bed without waking up the baby?

She sleeps right up against me, but when I'm ready to get out of bed before anyone else is up, she wakes up as soon as I move. I pray the Rosary in bed, but there is so much I can do early in the morning when everyone is asleep.

Any tricks?

You should see her right now. She's up playing with boys and ready to go.

No advice Ruth... I've tried multiple times to get babies (and toddlers) to stay asleep as I get out of bed, but I swear they have special hearing just for my first step on the floor...

So I do my "alone-get-ready-for-the-day" time at night...

And me too... I'd love to hear other people's secrets.

I just slipped out of bed and was patting myself on the back; I feel like dancing every time I manage to slip out. No special trick here, I'm just lucky every once in a while. What works (a big sometimes) is laying her on her tummy while I'm still there and letting her fall back to sleep. Then I can slide out easier then if she is on her side rooting for me.

No tricks here, either. Ds, age 12 months still wakes up when I slip out about half the time but I have found that as they get older, it does get easier to sneak out...Commiserating with you, dear Ruth!

My dd 5 would cry everytime I slipped out. My other babies didn't do it that much. I think it was the way she was and there was no trick that would work with her.

It partly depends on the age of the baby.. but I have found sliding my pillow around so it's along side baby where I was works pretty good.. it's warm (since I was just laying on it and smells like me and has some bulk..

Umm, am I supposed to be able to get out of bed when the baby is still sleeping? LOL!

DH says she can't sleep without my heartbeat. Every once in a while I can get up, but usually I just sleep/doze until she wakes up.

The pillow trick sometimes works, but not very often.

With my second I made a real effort to set her down or scoot away from her on the bed as soon as she nursed, so that she wouldn't get quite as used to feeling my body warmth next to her all night. I found it a lot easier to sneak out.

My older daughter would not sleep more than five minutes unless I was next to her the entire time, including naps. I don't know if it was because she mostly slept on me for the first few months or because of her temperament or both. This continued until she was about 2 1/2. It was rather inconvenient as I had to go to bed with her even if I wasn't tired at all just to get her to sleep. I did a lot of reading by nightlight in those years.

Sorry- no help here- I've had this issue with all nine of mine.

But, think of it this way- one day, there won't be a little one to snuggle with every morning. :-) Enjoy your time with them now! Everything else can wait a bit.

My first never slept for more than ten minutes ever, naps included, without touching my body until he was almost 2. I didn't know what to do with my second who will sleep more on his own, lol, but I think that even with him, many mornings, I just woke up and stuck him in a wrap when he was that age.

Though, lately, he cries every morning when I go to the bathroom
