Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

my oldest boy is 9 and needs to be outside every day. i would love a list of 'boy jobs' for my little man. we don't chop our own wood, but he can stack the wood. we live on 5 acres, but don't have many (any) leaves to rake. do you have some suggested things for a boy to do?

If you mow, how about picking up fallen branches and rocks.
Carrying wood to where it needs to go.
God bless,

Weeding. Turning over soil in flower/veg beds.

Sweeping walks, steps, decks and driveways.

We have sweet gum and pine trees and picking up the seed balls and pinecones is a never-ending job. Our silver maple also drops twigs and branches, which need picking up.

Keeping bird feeders/baths full and clean.

I have 4 boys and 10 acres:
*Chop / gather kindling ~ I used to worry they would chop their fingers off, but they are more cautious then I gave them credit for.
*Keep walkways and driveway shoveled during winter, maintain the salt on the walk to keep the ice from forming.
*Take trash to the road side. Keep back porch where the trash is kept clean.
*Not sure if a dog is an option for you, but my 12 yo needs a LOT of outside time and walking / running the dog has been a great help.
*Take compost to the garden

Just some ideas, I usually give them a set time to be back in the house by. They like to get the work done and then have some time to themselves to do whatever boys like to do.

okay, here is my list so far:

picking up sticks/rocks from the yard
refilling the woodpile
sweeping the porch
fill birdfeeders
shovel sidewalks (sadly, we rarely get enough snow for this!)
take compost outside

i wish i had at least one a day. any more suggestions? our trash has to be driven for pickup and our driveway is too large to shovel. weeding is perfect for summer, but there is no garden now.

today i had him put up the christmas decorations and he was thrilled.

any other ideas?
