I'm urgently searching for flatware to replace the motley crew I now have. It seems that at least once a week, we notice yet another piece MIA.
I definitely need a larger set than the "newly married" set we began with.
Do you have a pattern that you like, that has a good "feel"? My dear mil gave us a verrry cheap set and we just could stand to use it. All of the pieces felt as though they were cutting our hands!
Please help! It is sad to see a grown man forced to eat with the plastic children's forks!

I have liked our Oneida.. look on ebay.. it's generally heavy enough that even the thinner styles aren't "cutting". My original style is out of production so I found a similiar style and mix the two. It's more expensive.. but I love the fact that even being run over by the lawn mower I only ended up with some scratches on that spoon. Same with the one that got dropped down a garbage disposal. So if I can just hang onto it.. it can hold it's own with hard use.

I have Oneida Easton. I really like it, and it has held up very well over 12 1/2 years of daily use. I do wish we had more. We started out wtih 8 place settings, and I bought a couple more on eBay, but we really need more than 10 place settings, especially when we have friends over for dinner! It is rather expensive, though, even on eBay.

Definitely Oneida. I've been using mine for almost 11 years. Every piece is still perfect, even after washing in the dishwasher.

I have to ditto Oneida. I got the Aquarius pattern when DH and I married in 95, still have all of the pieces, have added several, and mom has been able to find pieces /settings at the outlet malls from time to time.

I caved and bought some Wallace 18/10 which we like, but it's made in China.
I'm on the hunt for older flatware, not MIC. So from now on I'll be turning over all the flatware I find at the charity & antique shops!

I actually prefer non-matching flatware. Makes life more interesting. I go to the thrift stores where they are anywhere from 10 cents a piece up and just pick out the nicest feeling, best-made stuff. When things go MIA, I dont have to worry about losing part of a "set" because there was no set to begin with. Many of the pieces Ive gotten are silver or silver-plated.

I've considered getting the non-matching stuff. But for right now, we've got plenty (I am sure that that will change, lol, as more people actually use it... ).
