Ok, I've got 6 wk old twins, 3 older dc (all under the age of 8), a DH on the other side of the planet, stresses beyond that...and yet, I want another baby. Oh, not RIGHT NOW, lol...no, but I can still feel that whole "I wanna another one" feeling...
Am I just out of my gourd? Sleep deprivation taking its toll? Dementia setting in waaaaayyy early?
I was just looking at the Fireside forum, and saw the "Who's Expecting?" thread..and thought, wow, I'm not there any more (my edd was this last Sunday, but the boys were induced early). And thought how sad that was...and how I want another one.
Obviously, that won't happen til DH at least comes home for leave next year. But still...am I crazy?
Rachel (who doesn't FEEL crazy, but doubts that people who are certifiable generally realize how "off" they are)

I've always been that way, and believe me, those who know me, DO NOT understand it!
Listen: it's a supernatural thing. There can be no rational reason for it. (At least for me....)

I'm with you all, I do feel that way
Others DON'T understand it at all (you really WANT more?! so SOON?! maybe you're just being SELFISH! etc.)
Maybe you are "crazy," but you're not alone
And listen to Nina (about the supernatural thing) I do believe that is the truth! It's a calling.

It's just beautiful!
I remember a nurse chuckling at us right after one of our deliveries. We were choosing names for the NEXT baby.

I agree and, after a recent viist with relatives this afternoon, I'm leaning towards saying we aren't normal, though I do think this is definitely a calling and it is a natural and good desire.

I just had a sil roll her eyes at my planner. "You guys are so busy you need an organizer?" I could hear the cynical sneer in her voice.
At first I laughed. "Sure. With five children there's a lot of planning here." Then I caught myself as the words came out of my mouth and she caught hold of them. "That's what happens when you have so many kids."
And I was left only wanting to show the joy of a large family but, in an unsuspecting turn, I was left having fed my in-laws with more ammunition to vote in opposition of large families and hsing.
So I met my sil where she was at. She was on her way to a ballgame with one of her grandchildren and having to keep three of the grandchildren for the next six-eight weeks because the mother had surgery and can't lift on any of them. "You've got a lot going on too. Don't you keep a calendar? That's all this is, a calendar."
And she answered that yes, she had a calendar but she keeps most of it in her head. I let it drop knowing they love us dearly but they still think we're weird.
It's definitely supernatural. No explaining it.

Oh, yes, Cay.
And, by the way: I don't use an organizer either. And it's kind of *insane* actually because, well....I forget things. Even if they're on the calendar. Did I say: I forget things?

Rachel,
It is definitely normal in this forum. I constantly
feel like I wish I could have one more. After having 5 pregenancies from 97 to 00 I am now really missing the baby things. My youngest is almost 7! I also have twins and they were born on different days. I'll save that story for another post. One plus about being out of the babyhood. The toys get smaller and you get your house back. Did I just say that?

Oh good. If I am insane, I am in good company.
LOL
I've been telling DH at increasingly earlier points, that I want another one--with my oldest, she was a few weeks old. With #2, I was on the delivery table, #3, 7mos along, and with the boys, I wasn't even halfway thru the pregnancy. LOL.
Now, lets see...that would mean eventually, I would just have a "standing order" in with Our Lord, right? LOL

Thanks, Alice. Four of them are named for family, the other for an 18th century Hanoverian princess (her name happened to be one I liked anyway, and the middle name was a perfect fit, too (Sophia Charlotte). We go for shorter first names, and longer middles...and I like the traditional, "girls are girls, and boy are boys" names...no doubting what genders my dc are, lol...

You are definately not crazy. I have 5 dc and the youngest is 3 months old and so want another now. Unfortunately having a husband deployed to the other side of the world makes that a little difficult

Ah, you too, Jess?
SIgh. Sure is hard.
BUT...this gives us time to get our figures back (if they aren't where they "should" be, and in my case, my weight down (which makes my PCOS symptoms MUCH MUCH less severe, and makes it MUCH easier to conceive)...
Plus, I don't normally start ovulating until I've had the baby completely weaned for a couple of months (with the past two dc, my first post partum cycle has been when the baby was about a yr old-14mos). So that will get me closer to the time DH will be home on his mid-tour leave (we're aiming for next May, when the boys will be a yr old). Don't know if the timing will coincide, but I can always hope....lol.
How much longer does your DH have, Jess? Mine just left, so we're looking at a LOOOONG time...sigh. Hope he (your DH) is in as safe a place as he can be...
Rachel

And I thought that I was the only one who was thinking of another baby within days after a birth. What a wonderful place to come to, with others who understand!
Rachel and Jess, prayers for your dh's during their deployments. I just found out that my oldest ds will be headed to Afghanistan in January.

I always feel that way too.
When they were doing the last C-section, the nurses were making small talk with me to pass the time and they said "You're not doing this again" in a joking manner. I was being cut and throwing up at the same time and I said between vomit, "oh, I'd do it again" and I remember my husband laughing.
So, no, you are nto alone.
